Only 14% of mobile connections to use 5G by 2025 - GSMA report

(Telecompaper) LTE will remain the dominant mobile service for several years to come, according to the latest forecasts from the GSMA at Mobile World Congress. Its 'Mobile Economy' report predicts that 4G will grow to 53 percent of the world's mobile connections by 2025 from 29 percent in 2017. While the first 5G networks are expected to launch late this year, the new service will be used by only 14 percent of mobile lines in 2025.

Openwave Mobility has released the latest findings from its Mobile Video Index (MVI). The study found that while YouTube remains the most popular for mobile video, Facebook is rapidly closing the gap in some markets and has even overtaken YouTube in others.

Vodafone joins forces with China Mobile in IoT partnership Vodafone has signed an agreement with China Mobile, whereby the two companies will agree to resell each other's services for the first time. The new agreement will see each company share new IoT project opportunities with their partner.
