The successful applicant will join the AOCSGNC Flight Dynamics Development department. As the study engineer, you will be involved in Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamics studies for satellite and space projects in the development phase, for various applicative domains like Earth Observation e.g. Spot 67 and Perusat programmes, etc., Geostationary satellites or constellations e.g. Measat 3B, DTV15, Eutelsat 172B, etc.. You will conduct Mission Analysis and Flight Dynamic activities for programmes in the development phase and will therefore be in charge of the following activities Orbit dynamic analysis analysing and selecting orbits according to mission needs, predicting trajectories, strategizing injections and transfers and trading off and optimising manoeuvers, Flight dynamics ground software development participating with the continuous improvement of inhouse flight dynamic tools, manoeuver computation and orbit restitution modules, defining the customisation and automation framework for Graphical User Interfaces and interfacing with satellite control centre operations, As the Flight Dynamics specialist, participating with the Launch and Early Operation phases and providing functional expertise support for satellite endoflife reorbit operations. This role will involve some travel for business twice a year in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to a Masters degree level or equivalent, 1st experience in flight dynamics andor AOCS andor GNC andor Flight Control systems engineering, Good knowledge of Space orbital mechanics, Ideally, knowledge of automatic control, Matlab Simulink and software development, Team spirit, Sense of commitment, Well organised, A negotiation level of French and English is expected. This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESOC, Darmstadt Germany. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Flight Dynamics Systems Section. The Sections main responsibilities are test and validation of Flight Dynamics data products and processes during mission operations preparation, operations execution and performance evaluation for all missions supported by the Division ongoing maintenance and further development of the Divisions Orbit and Attitude Operations System ORATOS support layer software and provision of related user support configuration and administration of the Divisions hardware and operating systems, including user support and system evolution having regard to ESOCwide infrastructure activities. The incumbent will provide Flight Dynamics support to satellite projects, including study, development, tests, operations, evaluation and maintenance activities, addressing both infrastructure and projectspecific issues. The work will notably include the following specific tasks providing Flight Dynamics test and validation operations support in both mission critical and routine phases organising and participating in Flight Dynamics internal test campaigns providing test and validation support for operations preparation activities engineering of test and validation system architecture and processes in response to an analysis of support requirements designing, implementing and maintaining generic test and validation software in cooperation with other user groups within the Section designing, implementing and maintaining software elements specific to a mission or discipline acting as technical officer responsible for onsite contract staff providing operations engineering support. The test and validation tasks of the Section cover all operational Flight Dynamics subdisciplines. It is intended to further consolidate multidisciplinary tasks and associated software tools both from the existing system and across the Division. The postholder will therefore contribute to projects in various subdisciplines. It is intended that the incumbent will primarily be concerned with the aforementioned tasks. Further duties may be required, as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in mathematics, physics or another relevant engineering discipline. Experience of Flight Dynamics operations, systems engineering and software systems development is a distinct advantage. Candidates should be capable of approaching their technical tasks with rigour and discipline, developing and following a systematic, thorough and resultsoriented approach. Problemsolving skills are essential. Team spirit is a key asset for the execution of the duties and responsibilities.
