Fastweb inks deal to access Open Fiber FTTH network in 80 cities and digital divide areas

(Telecompaper) Fastweb has announced an agreement with wholesale-only operator Open Fiber to use the latter's FTTH networks in areas not covered by its own infrastructure. Under the terms of the deal Fastweb will be able to access Open Fiber's network in the 80 major Italian cities it doesn't yet reach, as well as in so-called 'white' digital divide areas throughout the country. Open Fiber, meanwhile, will be able to tap into Fastweb's own fibre infrastructure where needed to continue rolling out its own wholesale network.
