MaxLinear, Inc., a leading provider of integrated radio frequency (RF) and mixed-signal integrated circuits for broadband communications applications, recently announced that Hitron Technologies Inc., a leading global telecommunications networking company, has selected the MxL268 Full-Spectrum Capture (FSC) 32-channel digital cable front-end receiver and the MxL231 programmable gain amplifier (PGA) for a new family of DOCSIS 3.0 consumer premises equipment (CPE) delivering data rates up to 1.6Gbps.

Without naming names, CableLabs dropped the news Tuesday that six vendors successfully completed the very first DOCSIS 3.1 interoperability test. The interop session was held during the first week of December and included prototype products from cable modem, CCAP and test and measurement equipment providers.

Infonetics Research has released excerpts from its 3rd quarter 2014 (3Q14) CCAP, CMTS, and Edge QAM Hardware and Subscribers report. Worldwide revenue for CCAP, CMTS, edge QAM, and CMC equipment totaled $445 million in 3Q14, an 8% sequential increase.
