For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking support for Java EE Development in the Enterprise Data and Application Team EDA of the Information and Communication Technology Support ICT Section in the General Service Division GES. Tasks The Key person will contribute to the full life cycle of the application software development, maintenance and support for all services, including web applications integrated in the Website and Intranet. Occasionally less than 15 work time the Key person will maintain PHP and Commercial off the Shelf COTS tools e.g. Org Chart, Library. It is foreseen, that the detailed tasks of the Key person will include as a minimum Design, implement, maintain, test and deliver applications based on Java EE and partially using Oracle WebCenter Content following the full application development cycle Specify, customize, integrate and maintain clientserver based COTS tools and document the customisation and integration in the EUMETSAT environment Maintain, test and deliver PHP based applications Provide second level support for existing applications, systems and services Gather and document user and system requirements and constraints Document the tasks and deliverables according to EUMETSAT working practices Perform the related quality assurance, configuration and change management activities Contribute to project planning and reporting. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a university degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent. Essential At least 5 years professional experience in the design, implementation, integration and testing of Website and Intranet applications using Java EE and Oracle databases At least 3 years professional experience in JSFFacelets, JSP, Servlets and JPAHibernate Knowledge of XHTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript, XML, XSLT Knowledge of Windows Proven experience in formal documentation, preferably in a ISO 9000 certified project and service environment High degree of autonomy, good personal communication skills oral and writing and strong customeroriented approach to interact with EUMETSAT personnel. Desirable Professional experience in integrating and customising COTS systems Experience in maintaining PHP applications Knowledge of Oracle WebCenter Content UCM 11g Experience in integrating applications in Oracle WebCenter Content UCM 11g Experience in integrating systems with Web ServicesSOAP, LDAPAD Experience in Glassfish administration Knowledge of UML and Design Patterns Knowledge of ITIL, in particular with respect to change and configuration management fundamentals and principles. For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking a Ground Station Software and MC Support Expert. The key person shall work in the SEP Division of the TSS Department as a member of the Ground Stations team, sharing the duty according to the work load, so he will be expected to have and maintain a Systemwide view of the various Ground Stations. Tasks The key person shall support the activities of ground segment developments in the area of Software and Monitoring and Control MC related to the ground stations. In doing this, the key person shall support The Engineering activities of Phase B of future ground segments in the areas of ground stations software and MC systems. The follow up of the detailed design and development activities of Phase CD of the future ground segments in the areas of ground stations software and MC systems. The analysis and the implementationtesting of changes, or reengineering that may be required on the basis of user requirements or maintainability issues The testing and validation of new software and databases releases The automated operational Ground stations procedures and related databases The remote operation and the maintenance of EUMETSAT Ground Stations in the areas of Monitoring Control and SW architecture Transfer protocol for the spacecraft telemetry, telecommand and mission data The STC Lab activities by contributing to the system definition and specification of STC Lab applications in support of the different programmes and by contributing to the working practices definition and improvement. The key person will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team and will report directly to the SEP Ground Stations Engineering Team Leader, however when working in a given programme, the key person shall report also within the established programme structure. In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall apply the relevant organisational and programmatic quality management procedures as well as the relevant ground stations system engineering standards. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfill the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. Essential Heshe shall have, as a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 5 years. This experience shall include in particular System software engineering in an operational earth observation environment Monitoring Control software application Maintenance and Configuration Ground Stations Monitoring and Control LinuxWindows operating system TCPIP, SNMP, Serial based communications C and Java programming languages and XML Longterm maintainability analysis and integrating software into a new operating system andor across computer platforms The Key person shall be in possession of sound management and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and with a minimum level of supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. Desirable Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TTC, mission specific andor satellite communications ground stations C and Java programming languages and XML Knowledge of multiplexingdemultiplexing schemes applied in Space Links for TTC and payload data transmission e.g. ECSS and CCSDS Standards. Description The Key Person will be part of the HIL2 team. This team is responsible for the scientific development, maintenance, validation and routine monitoring of hyperspectral infrared atmospheric sounding products in support of the development and operations of EUMETSATs geostationary and polar orbiting systems. The Key Person shall contribute to the continued improvement of current operational products considering opportunities and new requirements from the user community. Heshe shall support the implementation and evaluation of new algorithms in EUMETSAT operational ground segments. It is expected that the tasks of the Key Person will typically include Release and validation of new versions of the operational IASI L2 Product Processing Facility Integration and verification of external software deliveries in the operational ground segment and in the prototype processors of the future missions Software anomaly fixing Development and documentation of prototype software and test procedures Generation of test data Statistical analysis and visualisation of hyperspectral infrared Level 2 products Support the transfer of the IASI expertise to future hyperspectral infrared missions MTGIRS and IASING Retrieval algorithm specification, validation and tuning Profile The Key Person shall have a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as computer science, mathematics, physics, astrophysics, meteorology or remote sensing. The Key Person shall have at least three years of experience in the field of mathematical modelling and scientific computing. Specifically, the Key Person shall have experience and skills in Numerical algorithms Development and testing of complex scientific software Handling and processing of big amounts of data Object oriented techniques for scientific computing Software tools for revision control Very good skills in a high level programming language, preferably C Advanced use of data analysis and visualisation with tools like Matlab, IDL or equivalent preferably with satellite data Experience in some of the following areas is expected Inverse problems Principal component analysis Further mathematical modelling techniques nonlinear optimization, regression, neural networks, Kalman filters, etc. Familiarity with satellite data, preferably from IASI or other hyperspectral infrared instruments Use of radiative transfer models Retrieval of atmospheric parameters from infrared andor microwave radiances Data formats and libraries such as HDF5 and NetCDF Software testing Validation and visualization of satellite products Software libraries for numerical linear algebra and similar subroutines Experience with further programming languages and tools such as Python, Ruby, Java, etc. Multithreads programming The Key Person shall have good interpersonal skills. Heshe shall have the ability to write concise and comprehensive scientifictechnical reports. The Key Person shall be willing and able to learn about new topics as required for the tasks. The Key Person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and structured manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress. The ability to pay attention to details is mandatory, especially in the context of thorough software verification before operational release.
