Description The main task of the consultant will be the maintenance and further development of the operational MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF software, in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the IMPF software. In addition, the consultant may also support development activities of the MTG and EPSSG Programmes. Primarily these development activities will focus on the Image Navigation and Registration processing, which is part of the mission instrument data processing. Both online and offline functions development are part of these activities. Typically, the tasks of the Consultant will include MSG Operations Support Developing an expert knowledge of the MSG Image Processing System. Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as aerospace engineering, physics or remote sensing, the Consultant shall have strong mathematical skills and at least three years recent experience in Implementation of numerical algorithms, ideally in an image processing context. Objectoriented system design. C programming. UNIX. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with some of the following Realtime image processing of large volumes of data. Geometric correction navigation registration of satellite images. Radiometric correction calibration of satellite images. Performance optimisation of algorithms. IDL or MATLAB. Integration, verification, and validation of realtime data processing systems. Familiarity with ECSS standards, in particular those related to software development. The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Description The Key person defined in Article 12 of the Contract will be mainly providing engineering support, in the area of ground stations, to the EPSSG Ground Segment Technical Manager in the frame of the EPSSG Preparatory Programme Phase B. As a member of the Ground Segment GS team, the Key Person shall provide support to the EPSSG GS requirements analysis, architecture design and requirement implementation of the GS ground stations as part of the EPSSG System. The duties range from the analysis, design, installation, and testing of the ground stations. This may include support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external service providers. The tasks will nominally cover the entire development lifecycle. In particular during the initial phase the tasks will include Support to the generation of ground stations related EPSSG concepts, requirements and design documentation at the Architectural Design Level Identifying and translating the relevant EPSSG usersystemground segment level requirements into specific ground stations system requirements Provide support covering all aspects of the EPSSG ground stations specification and design Provide support covering the link budgets of the EPSSG programme Contribute to the definition of the ground segment data flows regarding the interfaces between the ground stations and the rest of the EPSSG ground segment andor satellites from a system engineering point of view Contribute to the preparation of the EPSSG Validation and Verification VV activities in the area of ground stations and the generation of the initial Acceptance Plan. In the performance of these tasks, the Key person shall apply the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The Key person is expected to write and review requirement specifications and change proposals, prepare procurements, participate in technical inspections and reviews, document the communication and network architecture system design and write evaluation reports, review reports, test reports and overall status reports. Profile The Key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision.
