For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a PA and Safety Support Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities Supporting the MetOpSG Product Assurance Safety Manager in all activities related to the execution of the Product Assurance Programme for the MetOpSG Project and deputising for the Product Assurance Safety Manager as required. Supporting the MetOpSG PA S Manager in all activities related to the execution of the Product Assurance Programme for the MetOpSG Project and deputising for the PA S Manager as required. Supporting the Tender Evaluation Process ESA Best Practice review approval of the PAS aspects of ITTs, evaluating proposals submitted in response to ITTs and supporting the selection of contractors for the project. Actively participate, and represent ESA, in the Design Review Process at System, Instrument and Unit Level. Support the Risk Management and Configuration Management Processes within the ESA Project Team, including the disposition of Request for Deviations and Request for Waivers RFDs RFWs. Supporting the PAS Manager to ensure the effective implementation and execution of the nonconformance identification and reporting mechanisms within the contractor supply chain and confirm the correct and formal closure of NCRs. Together with the Satellite Prime and the Instrument Primes, review ESA Alerts for potential impact to the MetOpSG project and, internally, the ESA IPNs Internal Problem Notifications, ensuring they are formally addressed and closedout. Support the Satellite and Instrument Primes in monitoring the manufacturing, integration and test activities using manufacturing readiness reviews MRR, mandatory inspection points MIPs, test readiness reviews TRRs, test review boards TRBs and, where necessary, quality assurance audits. Assist the PAS Manager in ensuring that all formally delivered items within the Project supply chain conform with requirements using formal acceptance reviews Delivery Review Boards DRBs. Produce reports on project and review activities, including conclusions and recommendations where necessary, participate in progress meetings, when needed and reporting on project PA status. Extensive travel within Europe is required. Requirements Minimum of 10 years experience in the space sector, including 5 years in Product and Quality Assurance. Excellent interpersonal skills are needed, together with a high degree organizational and communication abilities, and comfortable with working in a diverse and multinational team environment. User Support o Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. o Ensure operations continuity by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. o Training prepare and provide training covering usage and maintenance aspects of the application software. Technical Management o Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. o Meeting participation participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested. o Routine reporting preparation and production of routine reports as necessary. o Technical point of contact for maintenance contractors acting as point of contact with the contractor for technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor. Experience and education In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline you must have skills and experience in software maintenance, evolution and testing with the following mandatory areas Domain Skills o Extensive experience minimum 5 years in software maintenance and evolution of Satellite Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular experience in all the following MICONYS components is considered mandatory SCOS2000, SLE API, FARC, PARC and NIS. o Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. Software Development Maintenance Skills o Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development of application software, preferably for Satellite Mission Control Systems, following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design and implementation reflecting maintenance activities as well as new applications definition. o Experience minimum 3 years in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing activities of application software for Satellite Mission Control Systems following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking, investigation, correction and testing. o Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance.In addition to having a university degree or equivalent, the key person shall have at least 5 years experience of assessing and administrating computer systems and be very experienced in IT system design. The experience shall have been made in an operational or production environment, driven by high availability requirements. Software Engineering Skills o Extensive experience minimum 5 years in developing and maintaining software applications using Java and C programming languages under UNIX operating systems. o Experience minimum 3 years in developing and maintaining software applications using objectoriented technologies, Unified Modelling Language UML for software design and CASE design tools.
