PA Safety Support Engineer

Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of Galileo Ground Segment PA Unit in all the activities related to the execution of the Galileo Ground Segment and Software Product Assurance and Safety Programme you will have the following responsibilities Establishing the PAS requirements baseline for all elements of the project, in compliance with the ESA general Product Assurance and Safety policy Produce and implement plans, define inputs, outputs, participants, responsibilities, interfaces, coordinate efforts of participants, and produce resulting consolidated inputs Reviewing contractors plans, specifications and effort proposed for the execution of the project PAS programme Produce reports of review activities performed e.g. documents reviewed, checklists used, spot check performed and conclusionsrecommendations Guiding and monitoring the implementation of Ground Segment and Software PAS requirements in order to assess performanceeffectiveness, participation in design reviews and directing the necessary preventive or corrective actions Supporting the process for evaluation and approval of waivers and deviations Supporting the project nonconformance process attendanceorganization of nonconformanceanomaly and software review boards as necessary Ensuring the implementation of the Ground Segment and Software PA Requirements baseline across the applicable Galileo Ground Segments Monitoring the ground segment and software integration and test activities with quality audits, test witnessing and configuration inspections Supporting the definition of the formal acceptance requirements and conduction of acceptance reviews of all contractual deliverable items Ensuring the preparation of design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using RAMS data to support project decisions Supporting security and cybersecurity activities for ground segments as appropriate Support the maintenance of the Navigation Directorate Quality Management System. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Masters degree of Engineering or equivalent qualification 5 years of experince in Product and Quality Assurance Excellent interpersonal skills are needed, together with a high degree of organizational and communication abilities, and comfortable with working in a diverse and multinational team environment Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 would be an asset Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration. Software PA, with specific experience or knowledge of the following areas is an advantage software engineering development, maintenance or testing agile practices for software development handson experience with static code analysis and tools alternative software development lifecycles, continuous integration and tools. Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. This job is located in Noordwijk. Successful Candidate Master in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Physics, PhD degree will be an asset. Electrical power processing background, together with a good experience of digital and analogue electronics and control theory. Proven experience in the domain of power conditioning electronics together, with hands on knowledge of the circuit design of such systems digital Control of power converters FPGA and microcontroller programming design of power converters with GaN semiconductors on space power conversion systems. Experience in the development of computer models, especially with SPICEbased simulators. Knowledge and the experience on High Voltage power conditioning for space application constitute an asset. Optical Instrument Image Processing Engineer

Position Reference 937 On behalf of ESA, we are currently looking for an Optical Instrument Image Processing Engineer to work in its Site ESTEC in the city of Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Analysis of systemlevel needs and definition of system and subsystem requirements specifications for optical payload processing functions. Definition, design, development, performance evaluation and verification of image processing functions and algorithms via simulation techniques e.g. Matlab, Python, prototyping SW. Design, verification and validation of payload image processing chains in close collaboration with teams responsible for SW and HW implementation. Support to HWSW optimization and implementation of payload data processing functions on processors e.g. uCuP, DSP, GPU, AI accelerators and FPGA based platforms. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory PhD or Masters degree in Engineering from a recognised Institution of secondary studies or equivalent, with at least 4 years of relevant working experience. Extensive knowledge in image processing, compression and computer vision techniques. Extensive knowledge in optical imaging payloads, signalimage quality and onboard payload data processing functions. Extensive knowledge in simulation of image processing functions Matlab, Python, ENVIIDL, C, etc. Knowledge in the design, training and validation of machine learning techniques not limited to deep learning for tasks such as prediction, classification, semantic segmentation, object detection, etc. Familiarity with computational imaging techniques image stabilization, superresolution, active optics, etc. Familiarity with payload data processing onboard systems architectures. Familiarity with processing devices and onboard electronics design related to data acquisition and processing functions. Familiarity with procurement of demonstrator units, subsystem integration and testing. Ability to work in an autonomous manner, in particular when providing support to projects with high time allocations and this in coordination with the line manager.
