Position Description You will become part of a multinational team ensuring the integration and verification of the ground control and payload processing system for a satellite mission. Applying your strong communication skills you will interact with other teams to analyze system defects and to progress with integration and testing. You will support your more junior colleagues and, potentially, you may take over the lead of a small team. Eventually, you will keep your fingers crossed while watching the live stream of the satellite launch together with the rest of the satellite mission team! Your future duties and responsibilities Based on Test Specifications and the limitations of the current component versions to be tested, you will together with your team develop Test Procedures to cover Integration Testing and Verification Testing. You raise concerns where the required tests dont seem feasible and seek a solution together with experts within the team and the clients organization. You maintain a network within the wider project team to ensure all information needed by your team is available. You have an eye on the lifetime effort and suggest technologies and processes that ease the work of the team. After agreement with the Project Manager you take ownership of the implementation. Specifically, your area of activities include the following tasks Integration Testing Verification Testing Supervising Test Procedure Development and formal Test Execution Formal Reporting of Results to the Verification Control Team Interpreting Test Results within the context of the Ground Segment Design and Spacecraft Operations Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of system problems Required qualifications to be successful in this role You have a University degree or equivalent in an engineering or scientific discipline relevant to the job profile. You have experience in working in a project team in your area of expertise and first hand experience with leading a team. In addition to the technical knowhow you are characterized by your social competencies. You enjoy teamoriented work, bring excellent communication skills and an analytical mind. Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer

Astroscale is seeking to employ an experienced and motivated Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer at our facility based in Harwell, UK. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and rapidly growing company seeking to make a positive contribution to the growing problem of orbital debris that endangers mankinds continued use of space as an asset. This role will allow the right candidate to shape solutions for our missions. Whilst the candidate will primarily work in the UK, they will interact extensively with a larger team in Astroscales Japan Office and may expect to be required to travel to Tokyo as needed in support of Astroscale projects and operations. Responsibilities Act as a technical lead for the Operations team Perform routine and critical realtime operations Participate in operations planning and scheduling processes Develop, validate and maintain nominal and contingency mission operations procedures automated manual Develop, validate and maintain operations tools and scripts as required Prepare spacecraft user manuals and other operations documentation as required Contribute to the development of mission operations concepts Provide operations expertise at system, subsystem and instrument level supporting design reviews, bid proposals and other activities as required Perform health and performance trend analysis at system, subsystem and instrument level, producing reports as required Investigate spacecraft anomalies and participate in anomaly resolution process Interface internally externally as required in support of operations activities and ensure all relevant information is formatted and disseminated appropriately Participating in 247 shift and oncall rotations, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured on a 247 basis Provide engineering support and mentoring to Operation team members. Essential Skills University degree in a relevant engineering discipline Several years of demonstrable satellite industry experience, preferably realtime operations as part of a flight control team operating a Low Earth Orbit LEO mission through the complete life cycle. Comprehensive knowledge of satellite subsystems, in particular AOCSGNC or OBDH Operation of satellite ground systems, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, configuration management and simulator facilities Satellite performance monitoring and reporting, including anomaly analysis and resolution in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Can operate in a calm, orderly and disciplined manner during high stress situations. Able to identify problems, perform root cause analysis and implement appropriate solutions in a timely manner. Detail orientated and able to work using own initiative with limited supervision, as well as alongside other team members. An effective English language communicator at all levels with skills to CEFR Level B2 Independent User or TOEIC 700. Desired Skills Familiarity with mission control systems, preferably SCOS2000 based Experience of satellite assembly, integration testing processes Experience with systems engineering processes Experience of formationflying or closeproximity satellite operations Familiarity with operations preparation tools, such as MOIS Software coding experience with Scripting languages, e.g. Python Knowledge of Flight Dynamics and Orbital Mechanics Familiarity of relevant ECSS standards relating to Ground Systems Operations.
