Tasks and Responsibilities The Key Person will be responsible for the following tasks The design, development and test of spacecraft power systems for onboard applications Encompasses, definition of centralised power systems with overall power levels up to 25 kilowatts, their interfaces, with respect to solar arrays and batteries, the attendant power distributionprotection equipments and pyrotechnic activation functions. Detailed tasks include the overall system design necessary for the development of faulttolerant power control and distribution concepts, the detailed design of the power regulators and the identificationuse of tools and methods for ensuring dependable design and verification. The development of simulation blocks for system analysis batteries, solar cells arrays, power control and distribution units, useful for the independent evaluation of critical power and energy budgets Support to laboratory activities concerning design and development or verification of circuits for power management and distribution solar array and battery conversion electronics, power distribution and protection electronics, power conversion for generic and specific purposes, including redundancy and protections Involvement in critical RD activities support, by simulation, worstcase analysis and laboratory testing of the overall system or of the most critical subunits Assisting to the development and validation of worstcase simulation blocks for electrical equipment analysis converters, shunt regulators, current limiters, protections, critical telemetry or telecommand functions for the independent check of the most critical equipment functionality and performances, in support to all programmes reviews where the power conditioning section is involved The development and verification of high voltage design technologies and associated power converters, suitable for application as Electronic Power Conditioners, EPCs, for specialized spacecraft payloads such as Travelling Wave Tube Assemblies, TWTAs, and Electric Propulsion Concepts. Requirements Applicants shall bring an Engineering PhD or Masters in in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Physics, at least 4 years of working experience and the following good electrical power processing background, together with a good experience of digital and analogue electronics and control theory specific experience in the domain of power conditioning electronics together, with hands on knowledge of the circuit design of such systems good experience in the development of computer models, especially with SPICEbased simulators knowledge and experience on High Voltage power conditioning for space application constitute an asset. Tasks The tasks shall be performed in ESTEC Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The Contractor will be part of TECSWM System Modelling Functional Verification Section, Software Systems Division, System, Software InOrbit Demonstration Department and support the ESA Sentinel1 Project Team for all the aspect relevant to the implementation of the Assembly, Integration and Test of the Sentinel1 CD Spacecraft, including Payload Instruments. Payload level AIT activities will be performed in close cooperation with the Payload Team, and under supervision of the Sentinel1 Payload Manager. The contractors will perform the following general tasks Modelling of systems including spacecraft, ground segment and other required auxiliary systems in support of system design and verification Modelling of system of systems in support of system and enterprise architecting Definition and validation of metamodels methodologies in support of system modelling activities Integration and verification of industrial elements in the end to end performance scenario Provide technical support to projects and end users in the domain of AIT and AIV Isolate software problems, report and develop patches for section supported methods and tools. Evaluate needs and generate requirements for enhancements Evaluate relevant new methods, tools and standards for the domains covered In particular, the tasks include Ensuring a proper definition and implementation of the Assembly, Integration and Test activities at all Spacecraft levels, including definition of test documentation Supporting the coordination of all AIT related matters, including payloads, subsystem and equipment related tasks Supporting the Sentinel1 Team in the definition of the Verification approach, including requirements traceability, allocation of verification methods, definition of verification documentation and final verification closeout Supporting the Sentinel1 Team in the definition of an AIT Programme consistent with the imposed constraints and the required testing to achieve system requirements verification, qualification and acceptance Supporting the definition and development of Ground Support Equipment, including system databases, required to support of the AIT programme Supporting the optimized definition of environmental tests and the selection of adequate test facilities Supporting the monitoring of integration and test activities onlocation and the relevant test reviews at all levels Contributing to the control of integration and test activities at all levels, in particular identifying schedule criticality and supporting problem solving activities Supporting the NCR discussions and the related NRB as appropriate Provide technical support for detailed definition of flight operations authoring and viewer tools and products for crewed missions Maintain the corresponding tools and infrastructure. Requirements Masters degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent The candidate shall have practical experience of working in AIT The general required expertise for all of these activities includes but is not limited to Experience in Electrical and or functional verification of spacecraft system and subsystems Familiarity with the ECSS standards in verification and system engineering Familiarity with system modelling methods and tools Experience in requirements engineering and verification engineering Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule Experience in Assembly, Integration, Test of Flight Hardware Good knowledge of GSE operations and infrastructure Experience in using DOORS for requirements traceability, allocation of verification methods and requirement verification Experience relevant to verification through simulation models, specifically MatLab based, and basic knowledge of verification of ASIC and FPGA devices suited for on board space applications, will also be considered Proficient in the English language spoken and written Extensive experience of system level functional and performance testing. Homes blacked out after underground electrical fire

The blaze broke out at 8.30pm on Friday when underground cables caught fire in an industrial estate in Winnall, Winchester - blowing the top off a manhole cover. A passerby raised the alarm after seeing smoke coming from the manhole in Easton Lane in a fire that caused a blackout for homes in the Winnall area for several hours.
