We currently have an opening for a Communication Systems Specialist to join our Advanced Systems Engineering group. The successful candidate will be a technical authority in satellite ground and payload performance and will be involved in developing and recommending solutions for advanced satellite architectures. The incumbent will provide systems engineering expertise and analysis for the design of new satellite communications payloads including spot beams in geostationary and nongeostationary orbits using advanced space and ground segment technologies. Responsibilities will include Providing link design and capacity analysis as technical inputs to the development of business plans for new satellite initiatives Designing for advanced payloads including GEO and NGSO satellites Customizing software for systems engineering link design and capacity analysis Developing interference models and Conducting systems analysis to support regulatory filings and coordination with other satellite operators. The successful candidate will possess Masters of Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of related work experience in the area of satellite ground and payload design. PHD desirable Expert knowledge of satellite ground and payload performance Extensive experience at link budget analysis tradeoff to achieve overall system performance Extensive experience with MATLAB to model complex communication systems architectures Extensive knowledge of communication protocols for satellite communications Exceptional skills at analyzing performance of nongeo constellations Demonstrable skills modeling interference of shared spectrum environments An understanding of advanced wireless networks such as 5G Excellent communication skills both written and verbal English, and presentation skills Exceptional problemsolving skills and the ability to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations to both a technical and nontechnical audience Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and providing guidance to other engineers and technical specialists Ability to occasionally travel internationally and Ability to work in Canada and to obtain Controlled Goods Program Clearance.
