Cogeco Data Services and Peer 1 Hosting today announced the official opening of a new 100,000-square-foot data centre in Kirkland, on the island of Montreal. Unveiled at a ceremony attended by Quebec's Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports, Jacques Daoust, the Mayor of Kirkland, Michel Gibson and Louis Audet, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Cable Inc., the facility is the 21st location in the Company's global data centre fleet.

Cogeco Cable Inc. plans to expand its presence in the United States with a US$200 million-deal to buy the MetroCast TV, Internet and phone network in eastern Connecticut. The purchase will be made through the Montreal-based company's Atlantic Broadband subsidiary, which is the 13th largest cable operator in the U.S. Cogeco says its definitive agreement to buy the assets from MetroCast Communications and its parent Harron Communications LP is expected to close by the end of September, subject to regulatory approvals.

Cogeco Cable, parent, both report higher Q2 revenue, but profit drops

Cogeco Cable Inc. and its parent, Cogeco Inc. , have both reported increases in revenue in the second quarter, but say net profits declined as a result of depreciation and other expenses. Montreal-based Cogeco Cable, which provides television, Internet and telephone services to customers in Quebec, Ontario and parts of the United States, reported after markets closed Wednesday that net profit fell to $58.9 million or $1.19 per diluted share from $60.4 million or $1.23 per share in the same 2014 period.
