The Toronto area saw year-over-year sales growth of 38 per cent, while sales of Vancouver's high-end homes rose by 25 per cent from the previous year.

Hamm's offer to pay ex-wife Sue Ann Arnall immediately the full cash value of what he owes based on a November divorce ruling by an Oklahoma County judge was rejected, Hamm's lawyer, Michael Burrage, said in an emailed statement.

Safeway fined nearly $10 million for illegal disposal of waste

The Safeway supermarket chain has been ordered to pay nearly $10 million for illegally dumping batteries, electronics and pharmaceuticals in California landfills. Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley says the practice occurred at more than 500 Safeway, Vons, Pavilions and Pak 'n Save stores and distribution sites throughout California for more than seven years.
