Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support within ESAC. Overview Thefollowing specific tasks supporting the potential expansion of the current ESDC ESAC Science Data Centre serviceswillbe required Cloudbased processing systems attached to the archives. Mobile devices and apps for Android and iOS. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality data analysis applications. Artificial Intelligence and machine learningbased applications. Design, develop, deploy, operate and maintain all ESDC Science Archives and Virtual Observatory VO subsystems, i.e. Archive Data products repositories. Archive Databases including DB administrative tasks. Archive Data ingestion and metadata extraction systems. Archive application servers and middle tier services. Archive Graphical user interfaces and web pages. Archive Data distribution systems. Archive interoperability systems, supported by VO standards. Archive administration services monitoring, statistics, user management, . Archive data products online visualization and analysis services. VO tools and services. Software configuration control activities associated with archive development. Unit and system tests associated with archive development. Participation to working groups, workshops, conferences and meetings where science archives and virtual observatory standards and practices are discussed. Provide technical support to archives and VO services usage. Specific qualification requirements At least a University degree or equivalent in computer science or related fields. Substantial experience in Java programming language. Experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript or other frontend languages like AngularJS. Unit testing JUnit and UI testing selenium. Experience with SVN, git repositories and project management software JIRA and Confluence. Advanced knowledge of Oracle and PostgreSQL Databases. Experience with Google Web Toolkit andor Vaadin are assets. Experience in Geographical Information Systems GIS is an asset A high level of written and spokenEnglishis essential. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in Spain without the need to obtain a work visa. Only European Union EU, European Economic Area EEA and SWISScitizens can be employed by Aurora in Spain. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. In line with ESAs security requirements, prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident, and Aurora will validate your employment history. Location It is expected that the work will be performed at the ESAC, the European Space Astronomy Centre at Villafranca del Castillo, near Madrid Spain. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class specified as E3a. You will be registered for both social security and tax in Spain. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. In addition to public health services Aurora provides private medical insurance in Spain. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Qualifications Experience MSc or equivalent in a relevant technical or scientific subject area Minimum of 4 years of experience within industry in general software development and software engineering Experience on ESA Science Ground Segment software engineering processes, such as ECSSEST40C and ECSSQST80C standards Experience in software configuration control processes and tools Experience in software development under Linux Some scientific background would be an asset Experience in JAVA, Google Web Toolkit, Vaadin Experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript or other frontend languages like AngularJS Unit testing JUnit and UI testing selenium Experience in relational databases Oracle PostgreSQL Experience with SVN, git repositories and project management software JIRA and Confluence Experience in SQL and XML Experience in GIS technology Experience in Virtual Observatory standards and protocols, working groups, working processes and environment would be an asset Qualities Experience in interacting with the science community would be an advantage Must be willing to operate in a team environment and to travel Be selfmotivated and be able to work independently. Ability to take initiative and proactively seek solutions to problems would be valued The person should be comfortable in an international working environment and be fluent in English, one of the official languages of ESA Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful engineer is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early.
