Software Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As a Software Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities Development and maintenance of spacecraft mission control components Software development using C and Java Verification and testing activities Anomaly capture, analysis and resolution Analysis, planning and management of application system upgrades Software and technical support to the endusers of the applications User support to operations. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in a relevant engineering discipline Software development for large, complex systems Software engineering life cycle Developing software components and applications using Object Oriented OO approach in C under Windows Knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications Experience developing software applications using ODBCJDBC bridges and programmatic interfaces to RDBMS engines Knowledge of satellite mission control systems would be an advantage Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. We are looking for an ambitious, successful and results driven AIV Manager with a proven track record. Key responsibilities are Responsible for the management and supervision of a team of test engineers on a large multimillion project Active involvement in the day to day management of test activities and escalating issues proactively Allocate tasks and roles to the AIV team with clear expectations in terms of outputs, schedule and effort whilst ensuring the team remain motivated for the work. Take responsibility for overall AIV progress and use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary. Liaise with the customer and our subcontractor regularly to ensure that expectations are fulfilled or managed. Liaise with the Project Manager to highlight any risks and to regularly discuss progress, alerting any exceptions and issues requiring action. Contribute to estimation and contract or change control negotiations, as required, as well as identifying the skills, resources and tools needed for the project. Creation and maintenance of the AIV plan, as well as management and reporting documentation. Document production in order to produce project test strategies, exit review documents, etc. Mentoring of staff within the AIV team Desired skills Proven experience in the management of AIV campaigns for bespoke software development projects in a technical domain Demonstrating ownership for the management of both test schedule and cost covering budget and risk mitigation strategies Experience of managing the whole software test lifecycle Knowledge of using automated test products Customer relationship management. Good people management, planning and organisational skills Team player and team leader Understanding of the space industry and associated technologies may be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for the role. Allocate tasks and roles to the project team with clear expectations in terms of outputs, schedule and effort whilst ensuring the team remain motivated for the work. Liaise with the customer regularly to ensure that their expectations are fulfilled or managed. Liaise with the Operations Manager to highlight any risks and to regularly discuss progress, alerting any exceptions and issues requiring action. Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary. Creation and maintenance of the project plan, as well as management and reporting documentation. Manage all software licenses and intellectual property rights within the project. Desired skills Demonstrating ownership for the management of both schedule and cost covering budget and risk mitigation strategies Proven project management skills covering planning, monitoring and control, change management and delivery. Experience of managing the whole software development lifecycle specification, design, development, integration, testing, delivery and maintenance Experience of managing concurrent projects and using different methodologies or price types e.g. waterfall vs agile, firm fix price vs time materials The ability to facilitate and improve process improvement through leadership and ownership. Customer relationship management. Team player and team leader The following would be an advantage Experience of interfacing with prime and subcontractors Experience of managing contracts with customers or partners in Europe A recognised Project Management Qualification Exposure to contractual issues e.g. review of contracts, contract change Understanding of software licenses and Intellectual Property Rights Understanding of the space industry and associated technologies may be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for the role.
