Polyester prices have slightly fallen in the last days in China amid rising uncertainties over the level of crude oil prices in the coming period. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) and Polyester Filament Yarn (PFY) prices on the domestic market, including a price comparison of polyester staple fibers with cotton and viscose. The gross margin of polyester spun yarn producers is also released.

Spinners have been able to raise their spun polyester prices in China, India and Pakistan, after staple fiber prices rebounded over the past three months. Gross margins of yarn producers have therefore resisted any decline in the three countries. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

Having reversed their previous trend, polyester raw material prices are now declining in Asia, in line with lower oil prices, a larger production in China and a lack of demand from fiber processors.
