Space Applications Services performs space system and software engineering for the European Space Agency, National Space Agencies and the space industry. We are looking to recruit a motivated candidate to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Robotics Software Engineer SGSROBSWE03 Tasks and Responsibilities The candidate will join the Robotics team as part of the System Ground Segment department whose activities cover the complete product development life cycle, for a range of European Space Agency ESA and European Commission EC funded robotics projects. Initial assignmentwillinvolve The development of software and control systems including novel interaction and user interface design for a monitoring and control station infrastructure allowing multioperator control of unmanned aerial, ground and marine vehicles EC FP7 ICARUS project. The position is located in our offices in Zaventem Brussels and will involve some international travel with short collocation periods for working with international partners. Qualifications and Experience MSc 2 years of industry experience or PhD in Software or Robotics Engineering Solid software engineering and programming skills C with knowledge of formal methods UML, design patterns Provable experience with one or several of the following, is considered an asset for this position o Robotic frameworks e.g. ROS, Playerstage and interoperability standards e.g. JAUS, OpenBML o GUI design using Qt, user interaction techniques and graphics OpenGL o Middlewares OpenDDS, TAO Corba, communication protocols and technologies TCP, UDP, Ethercat o Robotic technologies for e.g. perception, navigation, manipulation, cognition Very goodcommand of spoken and written English Conditions Application by email should include 1 a Motivation Letter and 2 a CV, in English, both marked SGSROBSWE03.
