As usual, the levels of December data strongly differ depending on countries. Our monthly report compares cotton fiber and yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, offering a comprehensive view of the yarn/fiber spreads in the three countries. These gross margins of domestic spinners are displayed on a monthly basis with historical data back to 2007 being available for download.

Yarn prices have further dropped in the last two weeks on the domestic market in China, whereas yarn import prices have slightly increased in yuan terms. Yarn imports are therefore declining, as confirmed by latest official trade data which are below published. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. Historical data are available for download.

Fairchild terms China Resources offer superior to ON Semi's

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc said the revised unsolicited offer it received from China Resources Microelectronics Ltd and Hua Capital Management Co Ltd last week is superior to that of ON Semiconductor Corp. Fairchild said on Tuesday its board still supports the deal with ON Semiconductor and is not making any recommendation related to the revised proposal. ON Semiconductor in November agreed to buy Fairchild Semiconductor for $2.4 billion to bolster its business of making power-management chips.
