TASKS The key person is expected to support mainly two key tasks. It is foreseen, that the detailed key tasks will include as a minimum 1. Java EE Application Development Design, implement, maintain, test and deliver applications for all services based on Java, Java EE, Oracle Database and Oracle Web Center Content Management System following the full application development and maintenance cycle 2. Oracle Administration Install, configure, monitor, cluster, optimise and administer Oracle Web Center Content WCC and Site Studio for External Applications SSXA Servers as well as Oracle Application Servers WebLogic Glassfish used by web applications, Website and Intranet. Furthermore the key person is expected to support the following tasks, but to a much lesser extent than the key tasks. It is foreseen, that the detailed tasks will include as a minimum Oracle Database Administration Coordinate lowlevel Oracle DBA tasks with external DBA support company which is taking care of tasks like installing, upgrading, patching, clustering, monitoring and backing up of databases Administer, optimise and configure Oracle Databases highlevel DBA tasks Support Oracle Database design schema generation, analysis, data migration and report generation Implement and maintain scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities Very exceptional, install and setup Oracle Databases COTS Application Maintenance Specify, customize, integrate and maintain clientserver based COTS systems and document the customisation and integration in the EUMETSAT environment e.g. Book Library System, Org Chart System, Image Library System PHP Application Maintenance Maintain, test and deliver PHP based applications General Tasks Provide second level support for existing applications, systems and services Gather and document user and system requirements and constraints Document the tasks and deliverables according to EUMETSAT working practices Perform the related quality assurance, configuration and change management activities Contribute to project planning and reporting. PROFILE In addition to having a university degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent, the consultant shall have as a prerequisite For Java EE Development At least 3 years professional experience in the design, implementation, integration and testing of Website and Intranet applications using Java EE and Oracle databases At least 3 years professional experience in developing with JSFFacelets, JSP, Servlets At least 2 years professional experience in developing with JPA Hibernate, TopLink Knowledge of XHTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript, XML, XSTL Knowledge of Oracle SQL For Oracle Administration At least 3 years professional experience in Oracle WebCenter Content 11g installation, configuration, administration and operation At least 3 years professional experience in Weblogic 11g and Glassfish installation, configuration, administration, clustering and operation Experience in integrating applications in Oracle WebCenter Content11g For General Tasks Knowledge of Windows Proven experience in formal documentation, preferably in a ISO 9000 certified project and service environment High degree of autonomy, good personal communication skills oral and writing and strong customeroriented approach to interact with EUMETSAT personnel. Python bumps off Java as top learning language

Python has surpassed Java as the top language used to introduce U.S. students to programming and computer science, according to a recent survey posted by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Eight of the top 10 computer science departments now use Python to teach coding, as well as 27 of the top 39 schools, indicating that it is the most popular language for teaching introductory computer science courses, according to Philip Guo, a computer science researcher who compiled the survey for ACM.

Windows XP hold-outs pay attention. If you run the Java runtime on XP, it looks as if the current version is about as good as it gets. The next version, 7u65 and 8u11, due to ship in the middle of July, will not support or run on XP. Oracle hasn't announced this so much as sneaked out the information on its Java support site.
