DISH Network (NASDAQ: DISH) has reported results for the quarter ending March 31, 2020. The company closed with 11.32 million Pay-TV subscribers, (9.01 million DISH TV and 2.31 million Sling TV) down approximately 413,000 in the quarter.

BT increases fibre network build target, suspends dividends on Covid-19 impact

(Telecompaper) BT Group has announced a rapid acceleration of its FTTP network build, setting a new target of reaching 20 million premises by mid-to-late-2020s, with a significant build in rural areas. This will be supported by a GBP 12 billion investment spend. The announcement was made as BT reported revenue of GBP 22.90 billion for the year to 31 March 2020, down 2 percent (reported basis) on the impact of regulation, declines in legacy products, strategic reductions in low-margin business and divestments.

T-Mobile prepares core network for launch of standalone 5G later this year

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US announced a number of milestones on its 5G production core, in cooperation with vendors Nokia, MediaTek, Cisco, Ericsson and Qualcomm. The company said it is on track to launch standalone 5G services this year thanks to the new core network.
Vodacom launches first live 5G network in Africa

(Telecompaper) Vodacom announced it has switched on Africa's first live 5G mobile network, in the South African cities Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. Further rollout is planned to cover other parts of the country. The network will support both mobile and fixed wireless services and is currently available on twenty live 5G sites, eighteen of which are in Gauteng and two in Cape Town. With immediate effect, Vodacom customers with 5G enabled devices, and within a 5G coverage area, can access the new service.
