In the EUMETSAT matrix organisation, the Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division GSI is responsible for engineering, maintaining and upgrading all multimission ground segment functions, services, infrastructure and tools used across operational satellite systems and the development of new satellite systems. The Network and Maintenance Engineer supports the design, planning, development, deployment and maintenance of these operational network infrastructure services and solutions. What youll be doing Design, implement and deliver scalable network solutions with the associated infrastructure, fulfilling the availability, resilience and security requirements of the current operational systems Act as an expert providing advice and support to the Network Services team concerning complex technology issues. Contribute to defining and maintaining the evolution roadmap for the EUMETSAT communication network infrastructure. Secure the operational continuity as part of the evolution planning Translate specific service needs of internal customers into network system requirements Coordinate the service provisioning of EUMETSAT communication network systems, including 2nd3rd level maintenance, problem investigation and resolution Interact with suppliers of network products and services as subject matter expert. Skills and Experience Proven experience in the engineering and maintenance of communication networks supporting a highavailability, 247 operational environment Experience in designing, developing and deploying network solutions and services according to recognised standards Experience in establishing servicelevel agreements SLAs with internal customers, monitoring service performance and ensuring service implementation and delivery Indepth knowledge of Cisco technology, services and solutions Experience with the major Wide Area Network WAN technologies, monitoring WAN performance and troubleshooting problems. Experience with Local Area Network LAN engineering and operational support. Experience in coordination of industry support activities would be an advantage Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into customer terminology Effective teamworking skills with a strong customer focus and experience working in a service driven environment. TIM set to exclude Huawei from 5G core network tender - report

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) has decided to exclude Huawei from a lucrative tender to build its 5G core network in both Italy and Brazil, reports Reuters, citing two unnamed sources. The company has invited its current supplier Ericsson as well as Nokia, Cisco, Mavenir and Microsoft-owned Affirmed Networks to bid for the tender, but has so far chosen not to include Huawei on the list of suppliers amid security concerns.
IFC backs Jordanian govt to invite bids to expand national broadband network via PPP

(Telecompaper) The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Jordan's Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) have signed an agreement to attract private sector participation to expand and run high-speed internet networks to boost connectivity, improve digital services and create jobs. IFC will work with the ministry to launch a competitive and transparent tender for a public-private partnership (PPP) to operate, commercialise, finance and extend the national broadband network (NBN), a fibre-optic open access data network currently under development.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure SES Networks customers are provided the highest quality service throughout their lifecycle.
