It came as Commons business committee chair Iain Wright MP said it had "flagged up concerns" and could summon Whirlpool's boss if they get no answers. Whirlpool said 17,000 Swan dryers sold since late 2014 and 41,000 Proline machines sold between 2004 and 2005 had the fault which may cause fluff to catch fire on the heating element.

Angry customers have taken to social media after Telstra's 2G, 3G and 4G network were affected by a major outage on Tuesday. Telstra has blamed a manager for the widespread network outage that affected millions of customers who were unable to make calls or access data for several hours on Tuesday.

CBC retracts anti-supplements story based on faulty tests

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has retracted a report it aired recently alleging spiking and missing ingredients in supplements because it was based on faulty test results. The report, aired on the CBC show Marketplace, alleged that Emergen-C, made by Pfizer, and and two protein powders, GNC Lean Shake 25 and Cytosport Muscle Milk, did not meet label claims.

Audit: Faulty vit plant purchases costly for DOE

The Hanford vitrification plant contractor, Bechtel National, has been slow to spot problems with items it purchases for the huge plant and has not been aggressive enough about recovering the costs, according to a new audit by the Department of Energy Office of Inspector General. In one example, Bechtel did not identify piping for high-level radioactive waste that had a bend 90 degrees off from specifications until September 2013, more than nine years after it was delivered to Hanford, the audit said.
