3 Denmark trials 3G switch-off at Roskilde Festival

(Telecompaper) 3 Denmark said it will use the Roskilde Festival from 29 June to 06 July as test for its 3G network switch-off. More than 130,000 spectators are expected to attend and constantly use the mobile internet, providing enabling the operator to try out switching to 4G in an environment similar to those of the future.

VodafoneZiggo to start analogue TV switch-off in April

(Telecompaper) VodafoneZiggo, the biggest cable operator in the Netherlands, announced plans to end its analogue TV service in favour of all-digital services. The switch-off will start in April in the city of Capelle aan den IJssel and gradually roll out across the Netherlands over the course of two years. The freed up capacity will be used to increase internet speeds to up to 1 Gbps.
