Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of PLT RF Systems Payload and Technologies. Overview The candidate will be assigned to the Payload Engineering section TECEFP with the role of RF Payloads Engineer and will work in one or more of the following domains. RF Navigation Payloads RF and Microwave Remote Sensing Instruments for Earth Observation. RF Satellite Communication Payloads The candidate will Contribute to internal RD activities for the design, modelling, architectural tradeoff and performance assessment of advanced RF telecommunication andor navigation payloads, with main emphasis on payloads based on digital signal processing and active antennas, and RF instruments for earth observation Synthetic Aperture Radars, Altimeters, Scatterometers, Radiometers. Perform technical management of RD activities with industryinstitutions in the field of advanced payload concepts and sub systemsequipment development. Provide RF payload technical support to ESA projects and programmes. Contribute to the generation and promotion of innovative ideas for future satellite missions in the field of RF payloads, including the definition of ESA RD programmes. Define technical requirements and statements of work for RD activities to be performed by industry, from early conceptual studies to full hardware development. Carry out computer simulations at systemsubsystem level for the assessment of endtoend payload and instrument performance. Contribute to the developmentusage of section related laboratory facilities and analysissimulation tools. Maintain stateoftheart expertise by monitoring the RFMicrowave systems technological trends and applying them in the daytoday tasks. Specific qualification requirements To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required Master or PhD in Electrical, Electronics or Telecommunication engineering. Good background and several years of working experience on design, development and testing of Radio Frequency Payloads in the domain of Navigation andor Earth observation andor Telecommunications. Knowledge and Experience on the following topics are considered an asset Radio frequency and microwave payloads technologies based on active phased array antennas. TransmitReceive Modules for microwave payloads. Digital signal processing units, and experience on payloads based on digital signal processing. Endtoend payload performance and signal quality analysis. Stateoftheart RF analogue and highspeed digital signal processing techniques and technologies. Software and simulation tools and programming MatlabSimulink, ADSVSS, CC, Python. Extensive experience in the domain of telecom, navigation or RT Remote Sensing satellite payload and instruments, covering both RD and flight hardware procurement activities. Knowledge of modern computer systems, programming languages, computer simulation tools and signal processing. A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English isessential. NOTE Candidates with less than 10 years experience shall provide the relevant academic transcripts in order to give a more complete candidate profile at the selection stage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Technology Frequency Management Engineer

Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Technology Coordination and Frequency Management Section you will have the following responsibilities Support the identification of the technology requirements for future Earth observations missions, covering the whole spectrum mainly platform and ground stations network, but also support to optical and RF instruments Analysis and monitoring of the evolution of frequency needs for EO missions, including early concepts and potential interference conflicts with other communication services sharing the spectrum Provide support to technology developments for future EO missions, in particular for the standardisation of the platform and for the communications with the ground segment Initiate, conduct internal studies and support the review of the results of industrial activities and in the area of technology development and modelling of endtoend system e.g. data flow, technical budgets or onboard subsystem aspects Support the definition and monitoring of missions under preparation through, e.g. participation to reviews, assessment of industrial results, evaluation of proposals in reply to calls, including subsystem performance analyses or technology maturity aspects Support the interaction within ESA and also with ESAs Member States on EO future technologies e.g. through dedicated information days Support the EO technology observatory function outside the EOP Directorate e.g. ESA Technology Harmonisation, ARTES, and also outside ESA e.g. other space agencies, Horizon Europe in the EC, commercial initiatives under NewSpace, and the potential spinin from nonspace sectors Building up relevant IT repositories with information about technology developments or new mission concepts of relevance to Earth Observation. Skills Experience The key person shall have proven knowledge and handson experience in several of the following mandatory skills areas Masters degree in Engineering with relevant background and experience in space projects and associated technology developments Several years of experience in the development of advanced onboard system and subtechnologies for space applications, ideally in the EO domain Experience in Space Projects for Earth Observation Experience with System Performance Simulation and EndtoEnd Satellite Data Flow, including data processing, is desirable Good knowledge of remote sensing techniques used in Earth Observation missions Experience in Matlab, STK or similar tools Proactive in organising and building up electronic means to share the technology knowledge with larger groups Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage This job is located in Noordwijk.
