The ESM provides electricity, water, oxygen and nitrogen as well as navigation and temperature control. Moreover, the Orion ESM contains one of the most complex propulsion subsystems ever built in Europe. As ORION Propulsion Engineer Analysis OPS concepts, you will have the following responsibilities Analyze hydraulic characteristics of propulsion SS Perform water hammer and priming shock analysis of propulsion SS to define max. design pressure definition Elaborate ops concept e.g. priming on the basis of analysis Provide technical documentation of the performed analysis as contribution to propulsion SS milestones Support propulsion SS reviews by analysis and concept definitions on propulsion SS level. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Master degree in Aerospace engineering or another relevant discipline Several years of experience in engineering, production, information systems and quality management Experience with ESA and NASA highly appreciated Knowledge of ECOSIM Pro basic knowledge and ThermXL is an asset Profound understanding of Hardware development, manufacturing, integration and testing Requirements linked to Human Rated Space Missions Equipment integration into Subassemblies Supplier technical followup Proposal preparation Fluency in English is mandatory advanced knowledge of German is an advantage. Your Tasks Include The postholder will substantially be involved in space flight hardware projects as well as in technology development projects in the area of thermal analysis and hardware. Founded in mid2017, we have secured longterm funding and successfully demonstrated several novel prototypes related to laser transmission and efficient perpendicular solar concentration. Our mission is to make 10x more data download possible to meet the demand from the growing satellites market, especially smallsats, delivering more data from the earth orbit to the ground at higher speed. Role Responsibilities We are passionate about innovation and driven to find new concepts for communications architectures. We are currently seeking an experienced talent with a strong background in thermal mechanical analysis engineering to join our rapidly growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing and assisting the design of mass constrained thermal management systems to maintain operation of electronics, optical systems in high altitude low temperature, low pressure and space environments. Specific job responsibilities include but not limited to Using simulation software and experimental testing you will perform thermal and structural analysis, aerodynamic flow analyses as appropriate to validate payload designs for space and highaltitude environments. Work closely with mechanical design engineer to ensure developed optical systems are thermally stableresilient. Planning, completing and documenting validation and qualification testing of new designs. Clear and concise technical presentation of work to the team and mentoringteaching of junior staff. Participation in technical reviews, aiding in requirements definition and conducting trade analysis, working closely with systems and mechanical design engineers. Management of subcontractors as required. Interested applicants may also consider starting first as a fixedterm consultant while rolling into a permanent role although this is less preferred. Required skillsexperience Extensive experience using simulation tools one of ANSYS, CFD, Inventor to simulate complex thermal and mechanical problems. ANSYS preferred. Proven track record of problem solving for thermal systems in an aerospace context. Educated to degree level or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Physics or related discipline. Desirable additional skillsexperience Relevant experience in appropriate thermal and structural design and analysis in the space industry. Experience using professional CAD software Solidwoks, AutoCAD, other. Solidworks preferred. Experience developing a thermal optomechanical systems. Experience developing mechanical, optomechanical systems for space environments. Experience using Thermica, SindaG and ESATAN analysis tools advantageous. Experience with active and passive TCS hardware. Experience writing MATLAB code and other programming languages. Experience working on Cubesat projects, UAV, HAPS projects. Experience using simulation tools one of ANSYS, CFD, Inventor to simulate complex thermal and mechanical problems. ANSYS preferred. Experience working on Cubesat projects, UAV, HAPS projects.
