Radio Navigation System Engineer for Galileo Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Galileo Project team you will be working in the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management DTEC at ESAESTEC. In this role you will have the following responsibilities Analyse and test navigation systems, segments, elements, technology, dissemination and navigation algorithms, including tools development Evaluate navigation, positioning, timing algorithm and techniques, usersystemsegment performance assessment based on software simulators, laboratory and field measurements Study, design, analyse and test navigationpositioningrangingmonitoring technology and receiver, signal and signal processing techniques ad well as navigation receiverstechnology for terrestrial applications and local augmentation Define the procurement design, testing, usage of Radio Navigation equipment for experiments and test campaigns Supervise the development, integration and verification of the IOV and FOC updates of the Time and Geodetic Validation Facility TGVF Supervise the experimentation related to SignalinSpace measurements collected from the Galileo IOV satellites as well as of the preparation and execution of all performance validation activities in IOV and FOC which relate to TGVF or make use of its products Follow the development of the necessary means and equipment for the Galileo Performance Centre part of the TGVF Coordinate Galileo Performance Centre operations interacting with operators Coordinate the operations of the Time Validation Facility and ODTS Validation Facility Coordinate TGVF experimentation and validation activities in the area of timing, ODTS, navigation, sensor station characterisation and UERE budget assessment Support the definition and preparation of test cases using the TGVF validation capabilities during IOV and FOC validation campaigns. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University Degree in Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent Knowledge of the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment Experience at user level with satellite navigation receivers and satellite navigation positioning and integrity algorithms Several years experience relevant to the GNSS1 andor GALILEO systems and equipment and good knowledge of Radio Navigation simulation and testing systems Strong experience in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation simulation and test facilities Experience in project management and industrial procurement is ideal Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
