(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia has made a proposal to acquire some or all of the stake in Milan-based broadband provider Metroweb currently owned by Italian infrastructure fund F2i. Confirmation of the bid came from Telecom Italia's CEO Marco Patuano, who said the company was prepared to discuss industrial plans. "We have offered two options: a total purchase [of F2i's stake] or a partial one. There will be talks soon," he told reports at an event in Rome, according to Reuters. F2i currently owns a 53.8 percent stake in Metroweb's holding company Metroweb Italia and recent reports have suggested it will decide whether or not to sell its asset in the first quarter of 2015. Vodafone Italia has also expressed an interest in Metroweb but a possible sale would have competitive implications, as already confirmed by Italy's anti-trust regulator AGCM.
