Summary An opportunity for an experienced System Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC for Telespazio VEGA UK. Objective To provide support in the DTEC Directorate in the System team of Small Satellite or CubeSat Project in the area of System Avionics, System Software and System Communication across all phases of the project. Responsibilities Duties Duties will include but are not limited to Support all activities related to System Avionics, System Software and System Communication, from the early definition phase through to implementation phase and launchoperations phase. The candidate should have expert knowledge of System Engineering and more specifically to avionics, software and communication subsystems through the complete lifecycle including mission designoperations, systems design AIV, subsystem technologiesproducts. Knowledge of experience in the practical application of tailored engineeringquality standards to Small Satellite, IOD missions and CubeSat projects would be an asset. Experience of system and mission design, including system design modelling tools and Concurrent Engineering applied to space mission assessment and design would be beneficial. Knowledge of System of Systems SoS architecting and related tools such as System Architect, Focal Point, etc. and frameworks e.g. MODAF, TOGAF would be an asset. Knowledge and practice in the application of ESA SE Standards e.g. ECSSE10 series and SW engineering would an asset. Essential Skills Good English language skills Excellent interpersonal skills. Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a diverse team environment. Telespazio VEGA Deutschland is the first choice aerospace company for IT and engineering solutions and services. EPSSG is the European component of the Joint Polar System JPS, which is based on a cooperation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA. EPSSG will be based on a twosatellite configuration with the launch of MetopSG A in mid2021 followed by the second satellite MetopSG B 18 months later. Two recurrent MetopSG A and B satellites will be provided and launched in order to achieve a minimum of 21 years if operations. While the EUMETSAT relies on a cooperation with the European Space Agency ESA for the development of the satellite and of a subset of instruments, EUMETSAT will develop and procure a dedicated Ground Segment GS. Existing technologies and infrastructure elements that are already in operation in the EUMETSAT headquarters shall be capitalised as well as the Satellite Application Facilities SAF network. Responsibilities Duties The activities performed by the candidate will be an input for the overall system and ground segment Validation Verification VV activities. Heshe will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. Tools can serve for example the purpose of test data generation manipulation reformatting, test data injection into the ground segment and test data collection analysis. Typical tasks will include Identification of the suite of test tools and test data required to support VV activities, and definition of development procurement approach and associated planning Preparation of User Requirement Documents URDs, Statement of Work SoWs, etc., as needed as input for development andor procurement activities Contribution to the inhouse development and validation of test tools and their maintenance Support for procurements of test tools test data, incl. the analysis of received deliverables and attending acceptance tests, also acceptance tests for data and tools provided by partners such as ESA, CNES, DLR Simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite instrument onground tests or inorbit operation Identification of needs for and as needed support for the implementation of an infrastructure to host test tools and data.
