Overview Working within a team of engineers within the Earth Observation Directorate at ESTEC the duties will include the following Developmentacquisition, validation and maintenance of performance assessment tools for various spaceborne microwave instruments encompassing both active radars and passive radiometers instruments Technical support to the assessment of the instrument performance Technical support to translation of missionobservation requirements to instrument requirements improvement and maintenance of data processing tools. Specific qualification requirements The Candidate shall have a university degree masters in electrical engineering or physics with background microwave engineering or electromagnetics theory. The Candidate should ideally have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience. Knowledge of techniques used in Earth Observation missions including first hand experience in instrument system and performance modelling as well as digital signal processing techniques. Understanding of the modelling of wave interactions with the atmosphere and surface scattering. Good familiarity with programming languages and computer programs such as Python, MatLAB, ADS, Excel, etc. Good interpersonal Skills. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Proficient in the English Language Spoken and Written. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline and 5 years of experience in Operations Engineering activities. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Experience in System and Security Engineering and dealing with security components. Experience with satellite navigation and the GNSS Sytem. Experience with MS Office Tools, DOORS and MODAF tools. Able to work independently. Experience dealing with external interfaces. The ability to multitask efficiently. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing. The position is located on site at ESTEC Noordwijk, the Netherlands and will include occasional European travels.
