Developers who are planning apartments, commercial construction and new hotel and retail around Love Field say that the airport's half-billion-dollar modernization program and the end of domestic flight restrictions will boost business in the neighborhood. "With the nonregulated airport, you knew it would bring renewed interest to the area," said Steve Rogers, president of Viceroy Investments, which owns about 44 acres of property near the south end of Love Field.
Memphis retail real estate market rings up mediocre quarter

Leases in Germantown and Cordova buoyed the Memphis retail real estate market in an otherwise mediocre third quarter, according to a new market report. The Memphis area closed the quarter with net absorption - the amount of space filled, minus the amount vacated - of 44,822 square feet, down slightly from the second quarter of 2014, CBRE Memphis said in its latest quarterly MarketView report.
