Do you want to use your software skills to make a difference to society? Your software will contribute to controlling satellites observing the Earths weather systems. Every time you see a European weather forecast you will know that your software helped to facilitate it, which helps people every day, as well as helping to avoid misfortune due to weather storms. The SCISYS Space Division is looking for enthusiastic, ambitious and able software engineers to join our Satellite Ground Systems development teams in Bristol, UK. We deliver a wide range of projects and products to our customers, such as the European Space Agency, spanning large scale system developments used to operate satellites to small technology studies involving prototypes and technology demonstrators. We cover many software and IT aspects of the space and ground segments for spacecraft missions, including monitoring and control, planning, automation, operations data preparation, archives and big data analysis. Importantly we are also moving into product development to facilitate the trend of operating megaconstellations. The Software Test Engineer role will include working directly with the software development teams to implement the detailed test programme and support deployment and testing at the integration site and ultimately at the spacecraft control centres. The role will involve Working as part of the team to support integration and testing of software subsystems Development of Automated tests and associated test tools Support and management of a continuous integration environment to ensure that software subsystems are regularly and thoroughly tested. Nokia to test pCell technology with operators
2015-11-02 16:04:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Nokia Networks announced an agreement to test the Artemis pCell wireless technology in 2016 with mobile operators, initially in large indoor venues and other high-density areas. Nokia said that pCell has the potential to enhance the capacity of conventional TD-LTE networks in certain use cases, while remaining compatible with unmodified devices. Under the agreement, the companies will jointly offer pCell proof-of-concept deployments to selected Nokia Networks customers. The companies may extend the collaboration to consider further features that could be enabled by pCells, such as precise 3D location positioning. First demonstrated last year by Artemis, pCell uses simple base stations called pWave radios, that, rather than having their placement restricted to a cell plan, can be placed anywhere convenient, whether outdoor, indoor, visible or hidden. The pCell works in all mobile bands, as well as in unlicensed spectrum, sharing spectrum with other unlicensed devices and enabling deployment by both major carriers with licensed spectrum as well as local entrepreneurs using unlicensed spectrum. pCell avoids the problem of interference from other radio signals in a cell by combining transmitted radio signals from multiple pCell base stations to synthesize tiny "personal cells", or pCells, around each mobile device.

Data Acquisition Unit supports flight test applications.
2015-11-02 14:31:07| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Optimized for size, weight, and power, Axon Data Acquisition Unit works with Acra KAM-500 DAU chassis. Hardware-based acquisition engines eliminate data loss, support deterministic operation, and ensure immediate recovery in case of power brownout. High-speed serial backplane (1 Gbps dedicated link per module) enables off-the-shelf data acquisition modules to be placed in ultra-miniature Axonite housings and located remotely, separated from chassis by up to 20 m.
