CLS, a subsidiary of CNES and CNP, is an international company, a pioneer in providing Earth observation and monitoring solutions since 1986. Its vision is to imagine and deploy innovative solutions to understand and protect our Planet , and sustainably manage its resources. CLS employs 800 people at the head office in Toulouse and at its 29 other sites around the world. The company operates in 5 strategic business sectors sustainable fisheries management, environment and climate, maritime safety, fleet management and energy mining. In particular, the company provides satellite services based on the location and collection of environmental data, observation of oceans and inland waters, and monitoring of land and sea activities. The CLS Environment Climate Business Unit BU addresses the development of operational services or research activities in the fields of oceanography, meteorology and hydrology. Most of the clients are space agencies, scientists or private companies. Within this BU, the Space Observations pole meets the needs of space agencies CNES, ESA, EUMETSAT, etc. in the field of earth observation by satellites. This pole operates throughout the measurement and data chain definition of missions, instrumental expertise, measurement physics, algorithms and ground treatment chains. The technologies used are multiple nadir and swath altimetry, radiometry, diffusiometry, radar imagery and the associated themes are oceanography sea state, climate, continental hydrology, glaciology,. Within the Space Observations pole, the Altimetric System unit is responsible for defining and developing the processing chains for the various altimetric and radiometric missions before they are fired and then for the development of these treatments. throughout the life of these missions by integrating the latest algorithmic innovations. These processing chains consist in estimating geophysical parameters of the earths surface mean ocean level, wave height, ice height, etc. from onboard instrumental measurements. To achieve these objectives, this supposes a mastery of the various algorithms making it possible to ensure the best scientific quality of the estimated geophysical parameters. This involves carrying out studies on different algorithms. As the technologies used are multiple and constantly evolving, this also assumes an ability to adapt to develop and adapt the various algorithms to these technological developments. Within the Altimeter System unit, CLS is looking for a Project Engineer Study Algorithms Altimetric Radiometric Processing Chains M F Your main mission is to strengthen the current team to carry out activities on current altimetry missions Jason23, SARAL AltiKa, Cryosat2, Sentinel3, CFOSAT, Sentinel6 ..., to prepare future missions SWOT, Sentinel3 NG, CRISTAL, SKIM, etc. and ultimately take responsibility for projects and or studies. To carry out this mission, your main tasks are Participation in algorithmic studies and developments, instrumental studies, prototyping The definition, specification and validation of scientific algorithms, processing chains and products for altimetric and radiometric missions instrument processing and estimates of geophysical parameters Monitoring software developments supervision of the development team, and or contributing to them The assumption of the technical responsibility of projects Drafting and presentation of technical notes or publications contractual meetings, participation in international scientific meetings Participation in responses to calls for tenders and associated industrial arrangements Technological and scientific watch on new sensors missions and on new analysis and processing techniques. General engineer and or doctor with strong computer skills, having between 2 and 5 years of experience in a field of processing and analysis of scientific data. A good knowledge of the principles of measurement of altimeter and radiometer instruments as well as the associated data processing would be a plus. A good command of English reading, speaking, writing is essential. The position involves drafting documents, conducting meetings and teleconferences as well as oral presentations in the English language. Your dynamism, your rigor and method, your autonomy, capacity for innovation and adaptation, and your taste for teamwork and team leadership will be the assets to succeed in this function. You need to be fluent in written communication writing technical notes, responding to a call for tenders, and scientific articles and oral communication presentation at contractual meetings or at scientific conferences. We want to integrate enthusiastic, passionate and curious employees into our teams. Finally if for you the team spirit is essential, that you are force of proposal, and that your motivation is flawless, then do not hesitate any more, and join us! DoD scraps $10bn JEDI cloud project with Microsoft
2021-07-07 02:00:00| Total Telecom industry news
Back in 2019, the US DoD announced that it was seeking to modernise its IT infrastructure by introducing the public cloud, beginning a tender process for the $10 billion JEDI contract. Meeting the data security requirements of the US military and shifting the government’s computing power to the public cloud would be no small feat, and the contest soon became a close battle for supremacy between two of the US’s largest tech giants, Amazon&rsquo…read more on TotalTele.com »

Strategies for a successful IoT project

Strategies for a successful IoT project nellmarie.colman Tue, 07/06/2021 - 15:22 The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing the way people interact with technology from how we care for our pets and manage our own health to how farmers grow crops. By extending the power of the internet beyond our computers to a whole range of devices we can take advantage of IoT innovations to improve our safety and quality of life. For businesses, IoT provides valuable insight into how people are using their products, which can transform their design, production and sales strategies, to better serve their customers and increase revenue. And by applying IoT to their internal operations, they can improve efficiencies in areas like workforce optimization and preventative equipment maintenance, while also increasing the yields and quality from their existing processes. While the bottom-line benefits of IoT are clear, the path to IoT success is not. Skills gaps, scalability challenges and the inability to drive meaningful data insights can derail a project before it even gets off the ground. According to a 2020 report from Beecham Research, 58% of IoT adopters report that their IoT projects have been either not successful at all (18%) or mostly unsuccessful (40%). And half struggle to move beyond proof-of-concept stage. But with the right strategy and roadmap, you can get your IoT project on the road to success. Step 1: Planning Before jumping into IoT, it is important to develop a viable IoT strategy and roadmap. When doing this, you will first want to start with understanding which business objectives you are trying to achieve. Are you looking to build connected products or increase efficiency within your business operations? Step 2: Build or buy Based on your IoT priorities, you will next need to determine if you want to build a custom IoT solution, purchase an out-of-the box solution or create a combination of both. Is your use case revenue-generating or has the possibility to be revenue generating? Then consider building a custom solution. If youre looking to increase operational efficiencies in your manufacturing processes, a combination solution (build + buy) could be good. Do you want access to device data for real-time analytics, predictive workflows or monetization? Consider custom or a build + buy combination. Step 3: Find the right partner Partner with a vendor that can work backwards from your desired outcome, with capabilities from strategic advisory and cloud architecture design to hardware and software development. Make sure their solutions are scalable, yet cost-effective since, as your solution scales, the entire system, network, and process requirements change as well. And be sure they take the necessary steps to ensure security, to minimize threats to your IoT devices. Just as you need to do a cost-benefit analysis to determine if IoT is right for your organization, you need to also weigh the benefits of using a partner to help you implement an IoT solution versus doing it on your own. Solutions for every step in your IoT journey Rackspace Technology offers full-lifecycle capabilities to envision, develop, launch and optimize your IoT solution. Whether its an end-user-facing product or a solution to improve operational efficiencies, weve worked with customers to build custom hardware, cloud platform and applications across use cases from predictive maintenance, asset and fleet tracking, remote monitoring, and connected consumer and commercial products, to agriculture and farming. Let the IoT experts at Rackspace Technology evaluate your IoT use cases and provide recommendations for an IoT pilot solution along with backlog, roadmap and cost estimates for hardware, firmware and cloud architecture.
