HTC sales fall more than expected in Q1

(Telecompaper) HTC reported preliminary results for the first quarter showing revenues at TWD 42.8 billion, down 36.9 percent from a year earlier. The company earlier forecast sales flat to lower versus Q4, at TWD 50-60 billion. The year-on-year drop in sales accelerated from 6.5 percent in January to 48.6 percent in March. Operating profit for the three months to March fell to TWD 43 billion, and net profit came in at TWD 85 million or TWD 0.10 per share.

As Apple looks to sneak its way into other markets -- or in the case of the iWatch, create them -- its long-rumored attempt at a television always seems to find its way to the forefront of the conversation. On cue, one analyst detailed very specific components of what Apple's iTV will have -- most notably, an iPad-sized second screen on which to watch media, and a ring you wear on your finger that acts as a remote control.
