Orange Poland 900 MHz blocks extended for 15 years
2014-06-30 12:24:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Orange Poland announced Polish regulator UKE assigned the operator the frequency blocks 908.1914.9 MHz and 953.1959.9 MHz for a further 15 years, until 6 July 2029. The new licence is valid in the whole country and is technology-neutral. It carries a requirement to cover 90 percent of Poland's territory with telecommunication services using these frequencies. Orange noted that its coverage in the band was already over 99.5 percent at end-March. Orange uses the 900 MHz band to provide 2G services as well as data and voice services based on 3G technology (UMTS 900). Orange is the first mobile operator to pay a fee for frequency assignment for a new period under the amended Telecommunication Law. The fee was set at PLN 358.1 million and will be paid within 14 days.
