It should come as no surprise that the University of Alabama at Birmingham received the most funding from the National Institutes of Health during the 2014 fiscal year. Alabama's research engine received 482 NIH grants totaling nearly $225 million last year, and as I've previously reported , that broke a 12-year decline.

UND researchers get 2 large NIH grants

Two University of North Dakota researchers are getting a grant of nearly $1.5 million over five years to study drugs used to treat HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The money from the National Institutes of Health is going to UND professor Jonathan Geiger and assistant professor Xuesong Chen.
