Advisory group recommends NIH kill controversial children's study
2014-12-13 07:06:45| Biotech - Topix.net
An influential advisory group this morning recommended that the National Institutes of Health cancel the National Children's Study , a controversial and long-delayed plan to follow the health of 100,000 U.S. children from birth to age 21. In a report released this morning at a meeting at NIH, a working group created by the NIH director's advisory committee concluded that "while the overall goals and intent [of the NCS] are meritorious and should be a priority for future scientific support, the NCS, as currently outlined, is not feasible." NIH Director Francis Collins has yet to respond to the recommendation, according to Science Insider's Jocelyn Kaiser, who is at the meeting.
