Small natural gas leak reported from UP pipeline

Officials say a small volume of liquid natural gas escaped into the atmosphere this month from a "pinhole" opening in an Enbridge Energy Partners LP pipeline in the Upper Peninsula. The Dec. 8 leak near Manistique was from a pipe known as Line 5. It was disclosed this week to a task force of state agencies investigating the safety of petroleum pipelines in Michigan.

Suspect sought in armed robbery at Lowell gas station

Police are investigating an armed robbery at an Andover Street gas station in which a suspect claimed to have a gun but never displayed an actual weapon. Police were called to the BP gas station at 197 Andover Street at 4:09 p.m., when a 911 call reported a robbery.
