New car and truck deliveries on the US market have surpassed the frigid winter to a stronger than expected sales figure, with the industry now tipped to have a bigger chance of surging past the 17 million vehicles mark for the first time since 2001. According to analysts, while the year is still "young", numerous positive signs are already arising - such as record-high lease penetration in early February.

Japan's domestic sales of new vehicles, including minicars, dropped 14.7% from a year earlier in February to 482,103 vehicles, the second consecutive month of decline, data from two industry associations showed Monday. Sales of cars, trucks and buses excluding minicars, fell 14.2% from a year earlier to 288,348 vehicles, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said.
Volusia-Flagler auto sales pick up

Sales of new cars and trucks in the Volusia-Flagler area rose again last month, continuing a trend that began nearly three years ago. Area dealers reported sales of 2,922 new vehicles in January, up nearly 2 percent from 2,866 the same month the year before, according to data compiled by national market research firm Experian.
