For our activities in the European Space Agency, we are currently seeking to employ a highly motivated and enthusiastic Maintenance Team Leader to work in an exciting innovative international environment The role will be part of a newly established Network Operations Centre NOC tasked with coordinating, configuring and monitoring activities related to the ESA ground segment, specifically the Telemetry, Tracking and Command TTC stations of the ESTRACK ground station network. The NOC is responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support to the ESA space missions and its users. It provides Ground Operations, Operational IT and Operational Control Centre services and acts as single point of contact for realtime service requests from ESTRACK customers. The hardware maintenance team looks after the operational IT hardware, the local data centres and wiring centres as well as the operational control rooms on site. Main responsibilities The main tasks of the Maintenance team leader will be Lead the Operational ITcontrol room maintenance team Supervise and coordinate the activities of the team o Hardware installations o Hardware maintenance and support o Mechanical integration o Electrical safety testing o Cable installation, testing and patching o Spare part management o Shipping and handling of equipment deliveries o Configuration management o Testing o Preventive maintenance o Control room refurbishment. Maintain procedures and documentation Reporting Incident handling Support of LEOP launch and early orbit activities including occasional shift work Support the management of the operational services Providing training for junior team members Act as an interface to the customer Project management for refurbishment projectengineering activities. Ideal candidate Applicants need to have a solid background in IToperational support and experience in leading a support team in a critical 247 environment. Experience in a spacecraft operationsground station environment is a plus. You will possess the following qualities Solid experience with project management, Prince2 or PMP certification preferred Excellent knowledge of common data centre infrastructures, including wiring concepts, cooling and power distribution Fluent in English, both in speech and writing Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Proactive and confident personality with good persuasive skills Teamplayer, able to interface with technical and management personnel Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several tasks in parallel Able to work on shifts occasionally Solid IT knowledge, including common hardware, networking concepts and common tools and software applications Service mentality and solid understanding of a KPI driven service environment Able to write and present documentation, procedures and training materialpresentations Experience in coordination and supervision of teams PC literacy MS Office Products, Lotus Notes. It has now been over 30 years that comprehensive CS solutions for space systems and applications, both on the ground and in space, have been part and parcel of this odyssey. Our German activities grow at fast pace and to face our costumers high level expectations and needs, we are looking for talented profiles having relevant experience in Space systems. To strengthen our team, we are building a team of three System Engineer. One of them will also take the Service Manager duties. This Team will provide support to the EPSSG System in the LEO Division of our customer EUMETSAT. They will be mainly involve in the phase CD activities. The activities include then overall system aspects involving the space segment satellites and the ground segment, consisting of the data acquisition systems, monitoring and control systems, data processing facilities and product dissemination facilities. The focus will be on Satellite and operational related aspects within the system. PROFILE Mandatory skills University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground systems In combination the key persons shall have the following experience Experience of Satellite Monitoring and Control using ECSS PUS standards services Capability to prepare system requirements and design documents, and to perform systemlevel analyses for complex polar satellite systems Experience of requirements management using formal configuration control proceduresprocesses Experience of writing technical requirements preferably to ECSS standards Experience of establishing and maintaining traceability between different levels of technical specifications Experience of interface management and definition Familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition Demonstrated capability to prepare and manage ICD Experience in system modelling Experience of interface management and definition. Additional skills considering as an added value Familiarity with the CORE design tool from Vitech Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering MBSE Experience with DOORs. The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language. Good communication skills are essential for the fulfilment of the tasks requiring interaction. TASKS The tasks and responsibilities to be undertaken will typically include the following Contribute to general system engineering activities Analysis and trade off activities Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification Documentation of system design and justification Ad hoc internal reviews System level formal reviews Ground segment level activities as required Support IVV activities. Satellite MC Ensuring that operational aspects from operations concept etc are adequately reflected in the system technical specifications and design Provide input and support to the customisation of the Packet Utilisation Standard PUS specific to EPSSG and documentation of the results Provide input and support to the customisation of other satellite related ECSS standards. Requirements maintenance Maintain the system specification tree and baseline Analyse new versions of lower level technical documents for coherence with system and incorporation into system baseline Act as book captain for the System Requirements Document SRD. Collating and analysing comments, proposed changes from internal and external reviews and making recommendations on newupdated requirements Maintain the traceability of system requirements to higher and lower level specifications using DOORs. ICD design and maintenance Implementation of any changes to the system model identified in order to aid the interface documentation Coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers Organisehold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish interface detailsagreements Generate and maintain the system Interface Control Documents ICD Maintenance of the EPSSG system level model using the Vitech CORE modelling tool Ensuring the model is up to date with any system level changesevolution especially in the area of interfaces Configuration control and documentation of the system model Update of the model with respect to interfaces at system level Coordination with the ground segment for model updates to ensure consistency between systemground segment.
