Mission Control System MICONYS Development Engineer 1623186 Job Description We are looking for a MCS Development Engineer to support our client ESA based at their ESOC site in Darmstadt. POST Senior Satellite System Development Engineer in the Management Project Control Support Office, Telecommunications Satellite Programmes Department, Directorate of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications. This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands. DUTIES The postholder will report directly to the Head of the Management and Project Control Support Office in the Telecommunications Satellite Programmes Department TIAP, and will, in particular, be responsible for developing, coordinating and supporting satellite systems development planning and progress measurement activities related to TIAP programmes. The incumbent will, in particular, be responsible for actively supporting projects in setting up and maintaining credible master design and development plans and schedules with industry and partners consolidating and further developing the departments expertise in telecommunications satellite systems design and development planning and progress measurement, ensuring that lessons learnt are considered across all projects in the department consolidating and further developing planning and control procedures to provide the department with full visibility over the progress and proactive management of all the departments projects consolidating and further developing robust planning and progress measurement requirements tailored for PrivatePublicPartnership programmes managed by the department assisting in the preparation of tender documents, in particular with respect to scheduleplanning requirements, and ensuring that planning and progress measurement requirements flow down properly in ITTs and RFQs issued by the department participating in Tender Evaluation Boards supporting project teams in negotiations with industry supporting ESAlevel reviews and regular master planning reviews at project level supporting the establishment and implementation of risk management procedures and risk registers, identifying potential problem areas, and proposing and supporting mitigation actions assisting in the preparation and assessment of Preliminary Project Plans preparing ad hoc reports as required. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, together with extensive experience in space project development at industry level from inception through to launch. Experience of working in telecommunications, especially with telecommunications operators, would be an asset. Candidates must have technical knowledge of or experience in resources and activities planning, project management, risk management and procurement. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate good relationship management, negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to process and summarise large amounts of information and identify trends, and to apply analytical and sound judgment in resolving problems. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff in general, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French.
