You will have the opportunity to support the activities in the Ground Technology and Products Section in the Telecommunication Satellite Domain at our clients premises in Harwell, UK. Tasks and Activities Coordinate the initiation of activities related to technology and product design and development for the telecommunication ground segment. You have experience in the definition and implementation of ground solutions for satcom mobile systems You have an expertise in some or all of the following areas Terminal modem design FPGA and ASIC Communication protocols including quality of service aspects, upper layer techniques in IP and networking, air interface techniques, RF and Microwave including LNAs, SSPAs, TWTAs, filters, frequency converters, Ground antennas for both fixed and mobile SatCom systems. An opportunity for an experienced Communications Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC for Telespazio VEGA UK supporting work within RF Systems Payloads and Technologies, providing support in communication systems and technologies related to applicable ESA missions and projects. Responsibilities Duties The successful candidate will be involved in a diverse range of tasks including Assisting with preparation of invitation to tenders ITTs related to ESA RD. Activities and contracts technical followup. Specific engineering support to space projects developed by ESA andor by major European industriesoperators. Validation of designs by means of analyses, simulations, laboratory testing and field trials possibly in cooperation with third parties. Design, implementation and testing tasks for technological projects across the following areas Telecom network standards and protocols SATCOM system and networks from Layer 2 and above Link layer computer simulations Telecom networking security Qualifications Experience Masters degree or equivalent qualification in electrical, computer or telecommunications engineering emphasis on digital communications system and subsystem techniques, high speed processing techniques for satellite communication Very solid background in Internet, secure IP and applicationsnetworking technologies. Essential Skills Knowledge of SATCOM systems and networks from layer 2 and above together with familiarity with link layer computer simulations Knowledge of satellite communication architectures and techniques.
