(Telecompaper) Turkey's alternative ISPs announced plans to work on a joint venture company. Turkcell Superonline, Vodafone Turkey, TurkSat and members of Telkoder (Telecommunication Operators Association) launched negotiations for the JV, with the aim of investing more efficiently in Turkey's fixed broadband infrastructure. Comcast sees small drop in TV subs, broadband still strong
2016-07-27 14:32:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Comcast lost 4,000 TV subscribers during Q2, but said it was the best performance in a second quarter for 10 years. Broadband customer growth also remained strong, adding 220,000 new users in the three months for a total 23.987 million, and telephony subscribers increased by 64,000 to 11.641 million. Total customer relationships rose by 115,000 to nearly 28.1 million, of which almost 10.3 million were on triple-play plans. Revenue from its cable business was up 6.0 percent year-on-year in Q2 to USD 12.4 billion, helped by the customer growth, upgrades to higher tiers and price increases. Operating cash flow increased a slower 5.7 percent to USD 5.0 billion, after a 6.2 percent rise in operating costs due mainly to higher content costs, as well as spending to improve customer service and boost marketing and support services for rolling out new equipment such as the X1 platform and cloud DVR. Capital expenditure at the cable activities was up 12 percent from a year earlier to USD 1.88 billion.
