Telia Norway signs up NextGenTel as wholesale customer for wireless broadband

(Telecompaper) Telia Norway has announced an agreement running for several years to enable NextGenTel to offer wireless broadband to its private and business customers. Both parties aim to convert customers currently getting their internet service via the legacy copper network and hope to reach tens of thousands of subscribers over the next few years.

Swedish govt provides SEK 1.40 bln more broadband subsidies in 2021, reaching SEK 2.85 bln by 2025

(Telecompaper) Swedish communications regulator PTS has announced the provision of an extra SEK 1.40 billion in funding for broadband in 2021, bringing the total sum available for distribution up to and including 2025 to SEK 2.85 billion. The announcement follows the government's budget proposal for next year.

EU looks at updating rules for public funding of broadband networks

(Telecompaper) The EU is looking to update its rules on government funding of broadband networks. The latest regulations on state aid for broadband date from 2013, but the market has changed since then, with new demands and technological innovations. As part of its 'Better Regulation' initiative, the European Commission launched a public consultation to gather input for a possible update of the broadband state aid regulations. Comments can be submitted until 05 January 2021.

Zen Internet becomes second UK broadband to be B Corporation certified
