The key person shall work in the Architecture group of the Data Services team. TASKS As a member of the Data Services team, the key person shall provide system architecture engineering support primarily for the evolution, maintenance and routine operations of the EUMETCast service. This includes the multicast servers, multicast networks and multicast receivers. In particular the tasks include in order of importance Evolution supporting the implementation and testing of the multicast servers at EUMETSAT supporting the implementation and testing of the multicast transport service with the network service providers supporting the implementation and testing of the multicast receivers at the remote sites with the external partners supporting the generation and analysis of user requirements specifying system and software requirements designing and prototyping system and software enhancements supporting the development of system and software enhancements generating technical documentation engineering change proposals system design and design justification documents interface control documents verification test plans, test cases and procedures maintenance procedures reviewing engineering change proposals and system design documents participating in technical meetings and formal reviews Maintenance supporting the integration, verification and validation testing of externally developed systems and software analysing system and software anomalies designing system and software corrections supporting the development of system and software corrections maintaining the existing system and software documentation providing advice and guidance with respect to maintenance issues Routine Operations supporting configuration changes supporting the deployment of new software releases supporting verification and validation testing providing secondline support providing training to the dissemination operations team providing maintenance procedures In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall follow the relevant operations change management and maintenance procedures. SKILLS In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall have experience in the operations, maintenance and evolution of data services in a highlyavailable 247 environment. In doing this, the Key Person shall support SEP activities in the following areas of work Modelling of ground segment subsystems, addressing functional, behavioral and interface aspects Refactoring of the architectural design of existing systems within the context defined for the Reference Ground Segment Support the consolidation and evolution of the Reference Architecture Definition of requirements for the components of the architecture. For doing this, the Key Person shall make use of ModelBased Systems Engineering approaches and tools to document the work done and describe the architecture of the system components. The MBSE tool available at EUMETSAT in support of functional analysis and decomposition of the system is CORE 9 from Vitech. The Key Person will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team interacting with operational programmes and future programmes engineering teams. TASKS Requirements engineering, which consists in requirement analysis and validation, requirement allocation, and requirements maintenance Functional analysis and architecture design applying system modelling engineering methods and techniques Subsegment components specification Interface and data structures and flows definition Design which results in an architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics System analysis, which is performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness Performance of trade studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning. The Key person is expected to perform the following specific tasks 1. Build models of Subsystem of the RA Ground Segment, capturing their requirements, describing the internal architecture and defining their external interfaces 2. Support the generation, review and maintenance of the documentation of the RA Subsystems addressing their architecture, functions, requirements and interfaces 3. Support the management of the requirements of the RA subsystem and Components, heeding on the evolution of the operational system and future systems, using DOORS 4. Categorise and link relevant Subsystem and Component requirements to the model for traceability 5. Refine the processes and working practices established for the application of the Model Based SE and the use of CORE 6. Support the administration, configuration, deployment and use of CORE licenses. In the performance of these tasks, the Key person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The actual work will be released and defined in terms of scope, period, tasks, and deliverables in individual Work Packages. MANDATORY SKILLS The Key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. Knowledge and experience with the following is considered essential Extensive experience in the analysis of systems applications and modelling At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of systems engineering and architectural design Space and Ground System engineering processes, and System and Software lifecycles and standards. Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering methods, techniques and tools Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. CORE Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. ADDITIONAL SKILLS Previous working experience in system engineering aspects of SystemGround Systems for MeteorologicalEarth Observation Satellites would be an advantage. Experience in evolution management andor product line management of assets shared across organisational parts is desirable. The Key person shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple parallel tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communications skills verbal and written are important. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Due to the nature of the position, the Key person shall have good interpersonal skills and proactive attitude with strong ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
