A vacancy for an EDRS Operations Engineering and Mission Support mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Munich Ottobrunn. The successful applicant will join France Satcom System Engineering. EDRS European Data Relay System is a satellite based high data rate communication system for relaying Earth Observation data received from Low Earth Orbit LEO satellites via geostationary satellites directly to the ground for further distribution. EDRS is a PPP program between ESA and Airbus. The overall system consists of the space segment two geostationary satellites and the ground segment. The first GEO satellite EDRSA will be launched first half of 2015 and the second GEO satellite is planned for third quarter 2016. Airbus Defence and Space is the prime contractor and responsible for the management and implementation of the programme and the subsequent provision of the data relay service to ESA and other customers over a period of minimum 15 years. In this role, you will support the operations engineering team in the area of procedure definition and supervision of procedure implementation, testing and acceptance with main focus on payload flight operations. After the launch your tasks will also include engineering support to mission operations until final handover to the operations team. You will report to the head of the operation engineering team. Regular shift work is not required with exception for LEOP and IOT support. Please note that this is a fixedterm contract of 15 months.
