Mission Control System Operations Engineer

Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer with minimum 3 years experience in the operation and maintenance of satellite mission control systems. The position is fully based on customer side in EUMETSAT, unlimited and fulltime. Submission deadline for applicants for this position will be 15th June 2016. ResponsibilitiesDuties The tasks of the key person will typically include Support to routine operations, including Definition and maintenance of missioncontrol operations procedures Processing of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Liaison with the spacecraft operations team and other facilities within the operational ground segments to ensure the continuity and optimization of spacecraft and Ground segment and mission monitoring and control activities Interface with the mission control systems maintenance team and industry representatives to ensure optimized performance, Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as part of a team of MCS engineers Support to modifications to the operational systems, including Interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. Processing of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of mission control systems and related elements, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment. Support to the preparations for recurrent satellites and future satellite programs Support to operations teams, providing training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team. QualificationsExperience Software engineer with minimum 3 years experience in the operation maintenance of satellite mission control systems. Essential Skills Fluency in English At least three years work experience in the operation of spacecraft control systems At least three years work experience developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software At least five years work experience developing andor maintaining software for a UNIX operating system At least two years work experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software. Desirable Skills Some experience with SCOS2000 Experience in the use of databases and SQLrelated querying in relation to spacecraft mission control systems Experience in the definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of spacecraft mission control systems Experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems Experience of using configuration management systems such as CVS Experience of using satellite simulators Familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. Familiarity with flight dynamics and mission planning functions and systems as applied to satellite operations
