Danish transport and logistics group DSV is buying UTi Worldwide in a deal that values the U.S.-based rival at $1.35 billion, saying the deal offered to give it greater global reach as well as opportunities for synergies and cost savings. Shares in DSV, which had held abortive takeover talks with UTi last year, rose as much as 6.7 percent to a record 270.4 Danish crowns.

Oct 9 Danish freight firm DSV said it had signed an agreement to buy U.S. based rival UTi Worldwide for $1.35 billion. DSV offered $7.10 in cash per share, which represents a premium of about 50 percent to UTi's closing price on Oct. 8, and a premium of around 34 percent to the 30-day volume-weighted average closing price.

(Telecompaper) Dell is looking for USD 40 billion in financing for the acquisition of storage company EMC, the Financial Times reported, citing people people familiar the matter. Dell has approached JPMorgan, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays and Credit Suisse, among other banks. The company is working with Silver Lake, the Silicon Valley private equity company that backed its own USD 25 billion buyout two years ago. Dell hopes to acquire EMC's core storage business along with a majority stake in VMware, the data centre software company that is EMC's most valuable asset. The company owns an 80 percent stake in VMware that is worth some USD 27 billion. Dell is planning to offer more than USD 27 a share for its target, according to the people familiar with its plans. Both companies, as well as the banks and Silver Lake, declined to comment.

Highest likely bid for Telekom Srbija is EUR 1.2 bln

(Telecompaper) The biggest single bid for Telekom Srbija could reach EUR 1.2 billion and it comes from a foreign investment fund, reports Vecernje Novosti. According to the same source, a Russian operator is also prepared to increase its initial bid. A total of eight possible bidders are in the race, including investment funds. Serbia is selling a majority state share package (58.11%) in Telekom Srbija. Small shareholders currently have 21.89 percent, while the remaining 20 percent is owned by the company itself.
