Telefonica to roll out Movistar Series channel in Latin America

(Telecompaper) Telefonica has announced plans to launch its Movistar Series channel throughout Latin America this year, part of its ambitious project to compete with Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime via its Movistar+ original content division. In a statement, the Spanish company said Movistar Series will premiere 12 original productions throughout 2018, as well as Spanish-speaking content produced by third parties in at least 12 Latin American countries as well as Spain. The series will be available to more than 3 million pay-TV homes throughout the region, with a potential additional footprint of over 110 million Movistar mobile clients also having access.

Huawei, UnionPay to roll out Huawei Pay worldwide

(Telecompaper) Huawei teamed up with UnionPay International to expand their Huawei Pay service and quicken its roll-out worldwide to provide a better mobile payment experience for Huawei mobile device users. The agreement marks the first joint effort between Huawei and Union Pay to bring Huawei Pay to the global market since the two companies worked together to create Huawei Pay in 2016. Russia will be the first overseas market to carry out the service. Huawei Pay will also become available in Easter Europe markets later on.
