New Sensor Platforms Change the Face of Soil Mapping
2015-11-17 06:00:00| Corn & Soybean Digest
SALINA, KS – Veris Technologies recently introduced its new U Series and I Series of on-the-go soil sensors, developed to simplify the process of mapping and managing soil variability. The platforms, which can be pulled by a UTV and mounted to tillage tools, both boast two soil sensors that map organic matter and soil texture (EC). These maps are created by collecting soil measurements every second and geo-referencing them with GPS, which is then used to drive precision agriculture applications from seeding to fertility. read more

CSIRO team study erodes credibility key soil carbon model
2015-11-02 15:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Sydney Morning Herald: Australia's method of measuring how much carbon is being stored in its soil is flawed, undermining the credibility of government programs to pay farmers to sequester the climate change inducing element, a new study by CSIRO researchers has found. The Carbon Farming Initiative begun by the Gillard government and the Abbott-Turnbull government's Direct Action climate policy have spent millions of dollars to encourage farmers to boost carbon levels in their soils to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions...
