Position Reference 754 We are currently looking for a Data Processing Systems and Applications Engineer to work at our clients premises in the city of Darmstadt, Germany. You will have the opportunity to assist in the engineering activities of the data processing systems and application software for the operational and future programmes within the DPSA CA, including Processing Frameworks. Tasks and Activities Your tasks will include day to day operations and maintenance, to the handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures. For procurements and maintenance services provided externally, you will provide support to the management of the technical interface with the external contractors. Besides the above described routine tasks, you will also be expected to contribute to requirements specification, design and system engineeringreengineering, development and testing activities in the field of science data processing that will become necessary for existing and future production systems. The tasks will include Maintenance and development of the Data Processing SystemsApplication Software it should be noted that for many of the facilities the first line maintenance is being performed by EUMETSAT in conjunction with the industrial contractor the second line maintenance is being performed by the industrial contractor under supervision and with support from EUMETSAT. Procurement activities for maintenance and evolution activities, such as specification and maintenance of requirements for new or enhanced Data Processing SystemsApplications Software components that are going to be implemented by external contractors monitor their detailed design and implementation generate the test plans, test specificationprocedures, perform the acceptance of the externally developed components, support the integration testing in the ground segment and the operational validation. Contribute to the definition and design of architectures of data processing ground segments and their components, their interfaces, and the validation and verification methods. Coordinationinputs to planning and preparation of releases. Coordination with other EUMETSAT Teams andor Contractors to prepare introduction of newupgraded components. Generation and maintenance of technical baseline documentation. Contribute to the operations of existing data processing ground segments. Participation in technical meetings and formal review. Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools required to fulfil them. Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures. Perform routine tasks in operational systems under configuration control such as Anomaly investigations, documentation and classification Participation in relevant Anomaly Review Boards Follow up of the delivery of SW resolutions for these anomalies Contribute to Configuration Management change control practices Contribute to building and distribution of application software releases and patches Verification of correct facility installation for the assigned facilities Contribute to the development, integration and configuration management of software developed by third parties, its installation, and configuration and testing Perform SW testing in a structured approach to verify that delivered SW is fulfilling the requirements or to demonstrate that problems have been corrected. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Masters Degree in the relevant discipline. Significant experience in engineering of large, UNIX or LINUX based, complex, realtime data processing systems, including requirements specification, design, software maintenance or development, formal software testing and system integration. Very good technical writing skills, in particular in the area of formal technical documentation e.g. requirements specification and design documentation, test plans and procedures, maintenance procedures. Significant experience with Source code control systems e.g. Subversion, Git. Significant experience in software anomalies analysis, debugging, profiling, fixing and processing. The following skills would be highly desirable Experience with operating systems and application software upgrades andor porting to new platforms. Experience with Objectoriented software design, implementation, and maintenance, including the use of UMLSysML based tools for supportingdocumenting the design, at least at the architectural level. Good knowledge of web technologies and programming e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript, XML. Good knowledge of programming languages e.g. C, Java, Python. Earth Observation Data System Management Engineer 2123001 We are looking for a Data System Engineer to support our customer, ESAs Mission Operations Data Systems Division which specifies, develops, implements and maintains all common technical infrastructure and missiondedicated data systems required for operations. This covers in particular mission control systems, mission planning systems, simulators, and new types of data processing systems as necessary. The Division delivers these systems to the users and provides them with appropriate support during the various missionproject phases. The Division is also responsible for the development and the maintenance of the infrastructure for the mission operations data systems in use at ESOC. The DSM services relate to Mission Data Systems MDS, which include Mission Control System, Mission Planning System, Operational Simulators, Service Provision Data Centre and Advanced Software Applications. An example of some of the services provided include Development and Maintenance of Mission Data Systems Specification and management of Software Requirements Contractual and technical work for the start of a new MDS project Running the MDS software development and maintenance projects Support the Management and perform ESOC internal activities related to MDS deployment, testing, configuration etc according to ESOC internal processes. Support to Missions critical activities Organisation of Software Support SWS onsite environment preparation Act as a role of Software Coordinator in the FCT Support to missions during the whole lifetime Review of MIRD and contribution to MIP Definition of external and internal interfaces Contribution to the SFIRD, GSSRD, GSSTP and review of SGICD Support to Ground Segment Reviews Support to regular progress meetings with Project and ESOC team Support SVTSOVTE2E tests and in general FCT activity Support mission closure and retirement of SW and HW items Support to 3rd Party and Special Projects Coordinate the inhouse and industrial data systems team Assume the data system architect role for special projects which are not based on reference architecture of ground segments for missions such as SSA, METERON, IAP Support to study, innovation and standardisation Organise and coordinate joint projects with other agencies in the context of standardisation e.g. interoperability testing, prototyping Infrastructure and environment Automating CICD processes Providing training in usage of CICD, container orchestration, and DevOps tools. Develop release approach using automated, containerized deployment techniques Develop automation scripts, daemons, and APIs to reduce manual steps Analyse root causes of issues and provide corrective actions. Evaluate new tools and techniques to drive efficiencies. Manage Cloud infrastructure services and accounts.
